hi everyone, praise the Lord for this website
My name is Heather . I accepted Jesus as my saviour a few years back. However I didn't mature as a Christian , I became rebellious and did not lay my whole life down until Dec 2004. Certain events in my life led me back to Jesus, the reality hit me that I cannot live without Jesus in my life that I am nothing without Him. That was an awesome realization, what a relief!

There I rededicated my life to Christ, and wow how great He is. Jesus is always there welcoming with open arms. He welcomed me, showed His mercy, forgave me and then told me now it's time to get real.

Right now I am going through the process of renewing my mind. I have had such a distorted way of thinking since from my childhood. The Lord has revealed things about myself I was not aware of.

Oh thank you Jesus for showing me. I do not want to be the same person 5 years from now. I want to grow and be the mature Christian He wants me to be.
I am so excited right now, because I am experiencing a breakthrough with my negative thinking.
anxiety, depression, negative self image, resentment, guilt, fear...fear has been a big one.
I have allowed these things from the devil to cloud my mind for so long and I am now taking a stand. I am claiming victory over these in the name of Jesus.

To overcome and breakthrough some of these mental strongholds, I have been seeking the Lord diligently, arming myself with the truth, the Word of God is truly a mighty weapon against the devil.

Here is a scripture that has been helpful for me to fight my negative thinking.

'God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a calm well balanced mind' 2 Timothy 1:7

Joyce Meyer, what an inspiration, she is a warrior against these crippling mindsets. Her material is a blessing in my life.

I am happy to be here sharing with Talkjesus

Praise God, calluna for your testimony!!! Yes!!! Jesus is able and willing and His word is full of promises regarding this! I am new to this site as well but am finding that Truth is accepted and shared here...praise the Lord!

Keep hold of the promises of God and remember...tho the world is full of facts, the Word is full of Truth! God bless you sister!

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing or your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

Hi Heather, great to have you here. God delivered me from fear 4 years ago after suffering for 23 years so I know what a struggle it is. Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. Have you read Joyce's book Battlefield of the Mind? - that was a life changing book for me.

Hello Heather. Welcome to Talk Jesus. Thanks for your testimony. Your story reminds me of a teaching I heard some years ago that has really resonated with me.

Remember Jesus' words to the apostles that they would be "fishers of men" (Mk 1:17)? Jesus is The Great Fisherman. We "take the bait" when we hear the gospel and accept Him as Lord and Savior. But, like fish, we usually try to run away. The eyes of our understanding are blinded for awhile and we race off to do our own thing, forgetting about the the "hook" of salvation that is in our "mouth".

Like any skilled fisherman, our Great Fisherman is patient. He allows us to run and run and run until we run out of gas, until we are at our wit's end. Then He pulls back on His pole, thus "setting" the hook, and begins to patiently reel us in. At this point we might be still struggling. We may head for shallow water and try to hide under a layer of algae. But we only wind up bumping over submerged tree roots and rocks a He keeps pulling us toward Himself. Then the great day finally comes when bruised, battered, and humbled, we stop fighting and surrender completely. We are finally sick and tired of being sick and tired and we let go of our frantic effort to contol our lives.

You may not realize it, but you became saved the moment you made that sincere confession of Christ as your Lord and Savior those several years ago because "...He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (when Christ returns)." (Phil 1:6).

Welcome to the family of God!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

SLE, I haven't heard this wonderful teaching before. It describes my journey and thousands others perfectly.

And thank you for the reminder that I was saved all those years ago, there was a time I doubted my salvation because of my deliberate defiance and sin against God. I thought somehow I had lost it.

Not true! Thank Jesus I now know the truth and have peace about this.

Heather
