i go to a holiness church where they base there life's from the bible
women dress like women long hair no makeup or jewlery
men have short hair

if you look like and act like everyone else then have you separated yourselve from them

God dealt with me 4 yrs ago to wear long sleeve shirts, and i get alot of looks and questions about why i'm wearing them when it's 100 degrees outside. but a great opportunity to tell them about the convicting power of God
2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,

Lev 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I [am] the LORD your God.

1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

I go to one of those churches and I can truly say God as done a great work in my life and no matter what people say to me about how I dress or look like I'm go to keep in the Word ....because there is a judgement day comimg and the only way we will be judged is by the word of God. We've got to know the Word because when Jesus comes there will be no turning back.
Truley I say to myself..don't get caught up in outside Holiness because you can look as Holy as possiable on the outside but your inside could be bad. What I say is let God deal with you on the inside and as he begins to clean us on the inside, the inside Holiness will begin to appear on the outside. Don't get me wrong I 100% agree on the dress code God set, but let God convict us and not do it because others do it or say so.

don't do it alone but let God do the work.....

Yes i agree with both of you, Holiness in dress codes is important, and Holiness of the Heart is the most important, because that is what GOD looks at, in the new testament Jesus saw some people who dressed holy on the outside but He said that on the inside they were full of dead mens bones ! So that we can see what is the most important to His FATHER :D

I do not know what I am. There for a while in my testing time with God, I moved to a holiness church. I was convicted and started to wear skirts. Well I got through what I was going through, and I moved back to my old church, which is full gospel baptist. There for a while I was going to both.
I know what you are thinking, "A baptist and holiness?" Odd but true. Yes I recieved the most precious gift from my first church, and I recieved discernment from the other, and it too was a blessing.
Now I go to the full gospel baptist, and wear my skirts. I don't want to look like everyone else. I am convicted of wearing pants, and I will not wear them unless I feel a release from God. And they are comfortable!
Holiness opened alot of things up for me, and closed alot of things I needed closure on. But because of the gift of distinguishing between spirits, I was able to see that the people who I clung to for support in holiness were nothing but less than what they were claiming to be. It hurt me so much, I just knew it was time to go home. My home. So you know. In a way I'm still holiness at heart, but all together I'm full-blown, born again CHRISTIAN.
Or bapticostal? I prefer Christian!

Matthew 23:25-28
25 “How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! You are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence! 26*Blind Pharisees! First wash the inside of the cup, and then the outside will become clean, too.
27*“How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. 28 You try to look like upright people outwardly, but inside your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

"People learn to be 'Christians" like they learn to be American or Chinese or whatever cultural group they happen to belong to. They learn the beliefs, words, behaviors and activities that go with the particular brand of religion. The result is multitudes of religious people who appear to be Christians, but are complete strangers to the new birth." ( taken from Light in this present darkness by Phil Enlow)

--there is a judgement day comimg and the only way we will be judged is by the word of God. We've got to know the Word because when Jesus comes there will be no turning back----

When you preach the Word without compromise there are many who still will not believe altho they are reading it right out of their own Bibles.. They say "thats not how I was taught--", "I always believed it differently--" , "But I think ---" etc etc , excuses excuses. Why not just believe what God says and do it? Isnt He your Lord? We will not be judged by our opinions, not by what our denomiation says or what people think. We will be judged by what He says, by the Word of God.

John 12:48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

James 1:
22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

I have an honest question for you all. I wear what they call "muscle shirts" simply for a few reasons:

looks good
feels comfortable
cheap (lol)
actually makes me feel good (attractive, energetic, strong)

This wouldn't necessarily be unbiblical correct? Its not "revealing" of course. My shirts have sleeves, no nonsense text and just plain color black, white, gray whatever.

What do you think about this?

Philippians 4:5
Let your moderation be known unto all men.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But God does not evaluate things as man does.

1Sa 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most positively, I say to you, unless someone is born from above he is not able to see the kingdom of God."

Joh 7:24 "Stop judging according to appearance, _but_ be judging the righteous judgment."

2Co 10:7 You* are looking at things according to their outward face [fig., appearance]. If anyone has persuaded himself that he is Christ's, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ's, so also we are Christ's.

1Th 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God.

Holiness cannot be put on, or taken off in any form, it can only be found within the heart.

We receive Jesus Christ into our hearts (Ephesians 3:17).

The Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts (2 Corinthians 1:22).

God writes his laws in our hearts (Hebrews 8:10).

We speak according to what is in our hearts (Luke 6:45).

Sin comes from the heart (Acts 5:3; Matthew 15:19).

The Christian's heart is a battle ground and we're told to guard our hearts not our appearances.
