In my church people who have not been confirmed are welcome to receive Holy Communion, as long as they belive in the Lord. I have been Christened but not confirmed. I feel awkward receiving Communion because I have not been confirmed. Is it necessary to be confirmed to receive Holy Communion? What does the bible say on the matter?

It depends on what youe believe. If one is to take Holy Communion in an unworthy manner they will be guilty of sinning against the body and the blood of Christ.

Also read before and after the verses listed.

1 Cor 11:27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
1 Cor 11:28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1 Cor 11:29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.(NASB)

Peace be with you,
John
