:rose: Does anyone know what it means in Revelations, I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
Revelation 3:14-16? I don't wish to be lukewarm, but I have no idea what hot or cold means. Thanks for your input. Amen:Pixie

Pixie, when I first read that scripture I also wanted to know what He meant by us being either hot or cold. I think we all start out as cold and broken vessels and the master puts His blazing hot hands upon us and we are healed. The key is knowing that your cold, you see the scripture says in Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: You notice what they said about themselves?Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.These people did not live with a continual broken and contrite spirit, which is the only place our Heavenly Father who is a consuming fire will dwell. Isaiah 57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Hebrews 12:29For our God is a consuming fire. So you see when we have a broken and contrite heart before the Father in our selves we are cold but, that gives Him a place to make His home, then we are Hot. So we have to be cold to become Hot. It's sad that some people who claim to be Christians are really only lukewarm, self reliant, material minded, puffed up conterfiets. Matthew 7:20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. What comes out of their hearts? Is it a humble reliance upon Jesus or a proud self assuredness? I hope this helps a little sister.

Hot refers to having constant burning fervor for all things of God, and acting on it.

Cold means having definite solid belief and opinion; whether right or wrong, at least being outwardly clear about one's position.

Lukewarm refers to being always in the middle, never taking a stand, and catering to whatever is popular materialism - someone who is tossed to and fro by "every wind of doctrine" to dress up for others. Those who are lukewarm are complacent from worldly comforts, and do not bother with contributing to the body of Christ.

Because you say, "I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing - and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked Revelations 3:17

That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting Ephesians 1:14(NKJV)

brokenmanI was researching around and posted without seeing your post. Just didn't want to usurp your great answer.

Great response To Christ and brokenman.
Complacent or complacency are the desccriptions most used. Another is unresponsive, hot would be responding in a positive fashion, cold is in a negative fashion and lukewarm is just downright numb to the Holy Spirit's convicting power.

1Timothy 4:1&2
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2*speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

i know your works

when it says i know your deeds that you are neither cold or hot.i wish you to be one or the other.this means god wants you to live conplently for him or not for him at all.god understands our ways.he knows that our heart wants to do good but he also knows our flesh wants to tresure the earth. god wants us to serve one or the other not both (lukewarm). this just means god wants us live for him or to not live for him at all.if we cant be 100%for him then we are lukewarm. if we are not willing to give everything up we are lukewarm.i hope i helped you.may god bless you
gracie lou

For Jesus or not for Jesus

I feel that the lukewarm status is that of an reprobate-he or she is like and ACTOR, REJECTED, WORTHLESS... After reading Revelation 3:14-18 I feel the Lamb is saying it would be better for the church at Laodica to be "cold or hot" FOR HIM OR AGAINST HIM, instead of reprobate (lukewarm).
