Pixie, when I first read that scripture I also wanted to know what He meant by us being either hot or cold. I think we all start out as cold and broken vessels and the master puts His blazing hot hands upon us and we are healed. The key is knowing that your cold, you see the scripture says in Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: You notice what they said about themselves?Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. These people did not live with a continual broken and contrite spirit, which is the only place our Heavenly Father who is a consuming fire will dwell. Isaiah 57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Hebrews 12:29For our God is a consuming fire. So you see when we have a broken and contrite heart before the Father in our selves we are cold but, that gives Him a place to make His home, then we are Hot. So we have to be cold to become Hot. It's sad that some people who claim to be Christians are really only lukewarm, self reliant, material minded, puffed up conterfiets. Matthew 7:20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. What comes out of their hearts? Is it a humble reliance upon Jesus or a proud self assuredness? I hope this helps a little sister.
