How can I tell someone they can be saved?

I will cut right to the point

I come from a mennonite family who does not believe that a person has the right to say they are saved. "That is up to God to descide" they say.

The problem I have with that is it is false, and every time I bring it up they say "it says you shall be saved, not you are saved." I read somewhere in Ephesians where it says " It is by grace that ye are saved, not by works, lest any man should boast." So to me that is pretty much clear as day. But I need a bit of advise on how to go about this, and show my family that this is the truth. I fear that if a person doesn't beleive they are saved, then they don't beleive in the saving power of Jesus and thus might even be lost.

Any advice would be appreciated

God Bless
Bill

Romans 10 in the Bible could be a great help to you Bill, read it if you get the time.

Also remember that belief is a necessity, as Romans states aswell.

Romans 10:8-10

8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek

Ephesians 1:13

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit

What your family believes in is very false and dangerous. Pray for them and continue preaching to them. If it were me, I'd ask them "do you not feel unsafe not believing you are already saved?"
