The Bible says we must be born again to inherit the kingdom of God, so how do you know that you are born again?

I know for me I have been changed I no longer, in no particular order
1. I no longer watch the same TV show
2. I no longer hang out with the same people
3. I usually cant wait to go worship the lord on Sunday, and praise him all day and am just so grateful for all he has done and doing and will do.
4. Scripture runs through my mind, every day things happen I automatically think of scripture
5. I pray and speak with God most of the day

I could go on and on,,, but I want to make sure I say all this is because of the grace of God who is awesome and graceful and merciful to a sinner like me, any good in my life is because of Jesus not me, I am not listing these things to point to me, but to Point to Jesus who changes us, when we come to Jesus we come as we are, but we do not stay as we are, if we say we are born again and have not been changed there is a issue, for the Bible says we will be new creatures the old is dead, we are a new creation

My burden is many people think they are going to heaven claim to be believers, but there life has not been changed, The Holy spirit is powerful and will change you if you are born again you will be a different person once you are filled.

John 3:3 ..Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:5 ..Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 1:23
Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

Hey Dave! I think you covered it very well, Brother!

The evidence of a "new man" must be present.

Rom 6:6; knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
Eph 4:22; that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
Col 3:9; Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,

Eph 4:24; and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Col 3:10; and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—

1Cor 15:36; You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies;
1Cor 15:31; I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Rom 13:14; But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

I agree. It has to do with laying aside the old "self". Putting God and others first.
Our first birth was born into the sinful nature. Our second birth is into the Spiritual nature.

12 But to as many as did receive him, to those who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the right to become children of God,

How do you know you are born again??

1, We can call Jesus Lord.

Only a Christian can do this. 1 Cor 12:3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

2. We hear God's voice.

John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

3. We pass a session of our own self judgment.

Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
1 Cor 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
2 Cor 3:15-17
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates.

4. We can only pass such a session if we actively repent of our sins and grasp that we are not in a mortal sin.

Paul singles out a 'brother so called' in a mortal sin in 1 Cor 5:1 & 11. Paul stopped the mortal sin of murdering Christians but still battled with venial sins Rom 7:15.

Rom 7:15 For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Jesus also states in Matt 7:15 Ye shall know them by their fruits.

I"m sorry. I do not understand your comment about "mortal sin" There is only one sin that God will not forgive and that is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

Mortal sin is not necessarily sin that God will not forgive. It simply means grievous sins. The theory is that continuing in such sins shows that one is more sold out to a love of what is evil then someone who is not.

IE If we see a Christian in such, we could safely conclude that they are in fact not a Christian. As Paul clearly states in 1 Cor 5.

Example: If Paul continued murdering Christians, would any think he was a changed, all things are new, born again Christian? Yes or no?

If sin is defined as disobedience to God, then sin is sin...No matter what the sin is, it leads to death... If one persists in it, he could question his Christianity. He could question his commitment to God, be it stealing, lying or sexual sin, or idolitry. Anything we put before God in our life is sin. And its all serious

I am neither Yahova, Yashua nor, Ruach but it sounds like you are indwelt with Ruach/the Holy Spirit. My first indicator was the feeling that I was in the wrong place as I sang in the Hew Year in Porky's Bar. M second indicator was when reading the KJV Bible I owned, it made sense to me.

I just don't agree.

Sin is sin and sin has degrees. Both are correct and sound statements. Quoting one in isolation to the other is teaching a half truth. Jesus for example qualifies His statement in Matt 5:28 with verse 32.

When it comes to our self evaluation we need to consider the degree of sin we falling into.

If we look at Matt 5:28 and 32 as an example. Jesus says in verse 28 that thoughts = sin of adultery then in verse 32 He says = Only actual adultery is grounds for divorce.

If you espouse that ''sin is sin'' fullstop, are you suggesting all who think immoral thoughts should divorce? Yes or no?

You need to understand as well that in 1 Cor 6:1-9 Paul rebukes Christians who cannot judge sin and crimes, better then the unsaved.

Now when it comes to us 'judging ourselves' per the scriptures I quoted in my first post here, how do you do that if not to discern the actual sin you are failing with?

How do you explain Rom 7:15 when reading 1 Cor 6:9-12?

There are "stumble" sins. You don't plan of doing them. They happen in an instant. I say a bad word because I hit my thumb with a hammer.

Prov 24:16; For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.

But then there are life-style sins. Sin you choose to do. Habitual sins that you did yesterday, and today, and you already know you're planning on doing them tomorrow, next week, next month...

Being tempted is not a sin. Even Jesus was tempted. It's what you do with that temptation that becomes sin.

Sins such as are listed in 1Cor 6:9-10 are not stumbling sins, they are life-style sins.

Prov 24:16 is a good find and a powerful verse on the topic.

But using it as a reply to my post is simply moving the goal posts.

Yes or No answer please. After Paul was converted and stated what he did in Rom 7:15, was he by 'ANY' chance referring to sins of murdering Christians or as he mentions a 'brethren so called' guilty of sexual relations with his fathers wife? in 1 Cor 5:1

Yes or No?

Partially agree with your statement here. The secret to understanding 1 Cor 6:9-12 and many other verses like it is in grasping the plural in every sin mentioned.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God

A Christian is not one who continues unrepentant in any of these 'actual' sins. Note that Paul does not anywhere in this passage refer to someone 'thinking' of adultery. As Jesus explains is a sin in Matt 5:28.

I say that divorce is not necessarily a sin...Sometimes its a necessary thing. And too....in a divorce there is often one guilty party and one victim. The bible does not name divorce as a sin, in fact at one point God commanded someone to divorce. They had married wives of a heathen nation........But that's ok my friend....you have a right to disagree with anything, right or wrong

Divorce can lead to adultery. Scripture says God hates divorce. Jesus Himself states that one should only consider divorce if there was adultery Matt 5:32.

I do not see someone passing a session of self evaluation in fear and trembling before God if they divorce without adultery. Phil 2:12.

The example you gave needs a thorough evaluation as it is in opposition to the words of Jesus.

Not in opposition at all....God does not change. Jesus says divorce because of adultry and the Father said divorce because of aduldtry. My question to you is, Why do Christians act as though adultry is the ultimate sin? Its not. And often times its theraputic, and necessary. Seems to me that one who mocks God is sinning much more than one who divorces rightly. We as Christians often commit adultry against God. Its a mercy that He does not divorce us. Divorce is not sin.

You say divorce can lead to adultry...Drinking alcohol can lead to adultry.....your own thoughts can lead you into adultry. The Word says that just pondering on the idea makes you guilty of adultry. But too, adultry is not the topic here.
