How do you respond to God’s rebuke?

The king of Judah burned the scroll containing Jeremiah’s message of God’s judgment and the coming Babylonian invasion. Although the Lord gave the people every chance to repent, they resisted even listening to God’s messenger in the first place, showing just how set they were in their ways.

An open and humble heart and a mind that is quick to listen are essential for God’s people to live at peace with others and in harmony with Him.

Perhaps you can’t imagine what could happen if you resisted God’s message for you. Maybe you feel like you are too far gone down your own path to change. Yet the Lord is always willing to forgive those who are willing to respond with repentance and reverence. If you fear the power of God and the consequences that you will one day reap, you have an invitation to begin again today with the help of His mercy and grace.

Prayer: Lord, help me to respond to Your Word with a humble, reverent heart, remembering that You are both merciful and just.

Some children do get regular beatings and are on the receiving end of harsh treatment, daily, from a parent or guardian. Some, from their masters/owners. Do you know anyone like that?

I do not desire anyone go against the righteous commandments of God. The punishment could be quite severe. I speak from experience. My life was spared, while another was not.

I do understand that this is a devotional but we do have to understand what is being said, in a biblical way.

Dear Brother,
Did you understand what was meant by the devotional? If so, then it served its purpose...at least I hope so. If not, then try reading the closing prayer again. It should be beneficial. Not just to you, but to all who have fallen short at one time or another in their lives.

For your interest, if you'd like. Take a look at the OT/Hebrew on how many different words are used to express what we use the word "Rebuke" as meaning/suggesting.

However, I do apologize to you for failing to convey what was meant to help and not to be argued about in this devotional.
