My mom has been wanting to buy me a TV stand for a while, so we went to the furniture store and saw one, but it was $800 (it was a stand with 3 drawers and a shelf). I'm not a very fancy guy, so I told her that was too much. But she said not to worry about the price because I had bought such a cheap computer desk. ($48) Well, we went to the scratch and dent section of the store next and saw the same thing. So I asked her, maybe we can get this one instead since it would be cheaper.
While we were in the scratch and dent section, I remember Paul Washer telling a story about him buying kitchen appliances, He said his wife really enjoys cooking so he wanted to buy her a nice kitchen set and over a period of a year, he bought her a lot of nice kitchen appliances. He said he would go to various scratch and dent sections of furniture stores and places like Lowes and buy appliances that were in great shape and almost brand new. The scratches were in places where you couldn't even notice them. So he bought a really nice kitchen set for a fraction of the retail price.
Well we go there and see the same thing and it looks great only the bottom drawer doesn't shut all the way. We go up to the counter to buy it and the price was $87. Both my mom and I had thought that the person ringing us up had made a mistake. Since it was so low, I asked her if she wouldn't mind buying the other piece that came with it (back in the scratch and dent section), that was the same thing only two drawers. Twenty-five dollars.
That three drawer set sold for $800 new and I never got the price of the two drawer one, but I would imagine it would cost about $300-$400 dollars. So we bought a $1,100 furniture set for just over $100!! And it looks brand new! The scratches aren't even noticable on the three drawer piece and you can see some scratches on the two drawer pieces, but who cares?! And the drawer that wouldn't shut just had a piece of clothing behind it. We took that out and it shuts just fine.
God is so good!
