I love the Old hymns,
For they bless my soul,
They’re so rich in truth,
How Christ makes us whole.
I sang those old hymns,
As young as could be,
I sing those old hymns
With my heart, in glee.
My voice is now old,
It’s not always there,
But I sing old hymns
Without not a care.
I love how they tell
Of God’s love and grace.
The truth of His word
They do not erase.
They tell of our Lord,
His death on a tree,
Put our sins to death
So we can be free.
Now free not to sin,
Empowered by God,
For freedom to sin
Is just a façade.
Obeying our Lord,
Now do what He says,
Forsaking our sins,
Of God, full aware.
Now living for Him,
Like those hymns do say,
Committing our lives
To our Lord each day.
