I have three kids. Two of which are 6 and under. Since I came to Christ 3 years ago, I have been teaching my kids about God. My two youngest kids seemed to latch on and love God as well, however my 13 year old was already 10 when I started teaching them about God. Between friends and school and an atheist dad she sees on the weekends, she is unsure of what to believe. I think she feels pressured to make a decision even though I rarely say anything that would make her feel that way. If anyone has any suggestions to help someone you love come to Christ please reply. I am thankful for any and all advice.

I'm currently trying to educate my brother (who's 4 years older than me) about what faith in Jesus is actually about, even though I am fairly new to it myself.

Just as God doesn't work instantly to change the things in our lives that we ask for, neither can an instant answer be found for those we are trying to help.

The route I'm going is simply to live my life by the teachings of the bible and, whenever I can, introduce certain things to my brother (who is a nihilist). We had a long conversation originating around aliens and ufo's that led to God and Jesus...it was the only way I could think of to get his attention. I'm slowly bringing God into the picture and have plans of greater influence through God's word and his ability to work through me.

Don't give up, but also don't pressure. Just keep God in your heart and allow him to work through you and I'm sure He will show himself to her. One passage that helped me was Proverbs 1: 20-33. Perhaps that might be of assistance.

Spending quality time to know the love and peace of Jesus - even if it's only a few minutes with a cup of coffee while reading the bible each day - can be a very confidence-building, supernatural healing moment with our living invisible spiritual partner Jesus Christ within our faithful hearts.
When thinking about the vastness of God's Kingdom and how such a huge mega-structure could be hovering somewhere in the universe and land here on Earth when Jesus returns in the future - would definitely be an incredible event where this truly super-advanced technology is built in this divine indestructible "UFO": the Kingdom of God.
The hugest best of the best birthday present is when Jesus transforms us from our old earth-born bodies to new glorious minds and bodies of Christ where health, youth and Christ-like intelligence to know God's wisdom and everybody's names will make human failure a thing of the past.
Non-Christians must accept Jesus sooner, rather than later, because Jesus could come anytime from now during this time of crisis.
We are Learners and Leaders of Christ, and not Losers and Always The Arguing Types of Satan.

Patience is key, and I thank you Chad for mentioning this to her.

My parents tried forcing it upon me..and it was horribly ineffective. Patience though, can accomplish a lot

And not only in religion, but in many other things in life!

[Prov 22:6] Train a child in the way they should go; even when they are old, they will not swerve from it.

We prayed with our children growing up even at bedtime, talked about God about and how much He loves them. Keep praying and be patient. Love and guidance stays with them their entire life even if they stray or question. It’s all part of growing up.

I believe God has a covering over your children as they live with you. He protects them and guides you what to say and do.

My Children are all grown up and now are independent from our beliefs and have formed their own. May God guide you what to say and do for your loved ones.

Prayer is the key. It's also important to remember that we aren't the ones who lead people to the Lord...that is the work of the Holy Spirit. All we can do is plant the seed by talking to them, live the life, and then pray for their hearts to be softened. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
God saved me about two years before he did my wife, and it was a very frustrating thing for me in the beginning because the more I tried convincing her that she needed Jesus, the more her heart seemed to harden to the idea. Finally, she just completely cut me off or would just sit there and roll her eyes every time I even mentioned her going to church with me. Eventually I came to the point where I realized there was nothing more I could do except pray for her, and God did save her...and he did it in his time and on his schedule not mine.
Having unsaved loved ones is a very frustrating thing to go through, but all we can do is lean on God and trust in him that his perfect will will be done. Don't get discouraged and I will be praying for you.

Pray without ceasing.

I would like to share a story of one women at my home church, she have 3 kids, and they are kind of not together... one is in other island, one is in the city and sometimes the one is with her. We would be sometimes be prayer partners, and one of her constant prayer is for her children to know Christ. Im sure she does share to them when they are together, but I feel how heart breaking it was for her to be not with her children. Years passed by...

I am now bestfriends with one of the children she was praying for...
Twenty years she prayed for them, they are now all Christians and are all with her.

It always amazes me that there was a time, I was praying for this girl that is supposedly just a children of a churchmate and now she's like a sister to me.

You have no idea how God works. Just keep going.

Its not about preaching to your kids or trying to order them around. In "working out your salvation" (Php 2:12-13), though you may not recognize it, you become more Christ-like in your thinking and in your actions and those around you are attracted to the new you like a moth is attracted to a light bulb on a hot summer night. Thats why Paul could, in all humility, tell the Thessalonians "For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example" (2 Thess 3:7).
