I by me

I stand before the master I stand before the king
I am so ashamed for my nakedness is all I bring
at times I put my faith in man
and worshiped the things I made with my hands
I pulled the beard from his face
and hammered the nails into place
I gave the evil one a gloating pride
as I gave into the desires inside
I stand in glory as a barren soul
Ive come to the feast with an empty bowl
Ive hidden his blessings in the palm of my hand
for fear of rejection from my fellow man
if John was unworthy to untie his sandle
then for me the door will have no handle
the hate in my heart has sealed my fate
if it had been me I'd laid the world to waste
a coward dies a thousand deaths
everyday I take my last breath
I know the joy of true love
can only come from God above
I shield my soul with a selfish pride
and deny it the glory for which he died

hello john,

thank you so much for sharing your poetry, i LOVE hearing peoples poems.

i really enjoyed your rhythum and rhyme, and how you almost told an autobiography in one paragraph! very succinct.

Jesu bless you

those are some hard hitting lines...painfull...grivious...all too true. What grace changes to the highest comes from the lowest. I testify to that. Thanks Evergreen.

amazing grace one as unworthy as I...soulfelt poem, thank you for sharing evergreen!

1Jo 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
