I could tell by his cry that he always thought of me
I said "So this is the way it's gonna be?"
and he said "No, this is the way it's gotta be..."

When I swung that hammer, as I drove each spike
in-between every scream I heard "I love you, Mike"
The first outstretched wrist and I didn't wanna do it
I held that hammer in my fist and I smashed right through it
Blood rained pain all across my face
He held his other arm open as if to offer me grace
I chased away the sadness as the madness took control
and as I drove the next spike it penetrated my soul
"Forgive me, Father...I know not what I do"
As he crossed his feet together I crushed the third spike through
The holy crown of glory found me broken, puzzled, pleading
Long-dead roses...yet the thorns were still bleeding
"Why?!" I cried..."Why must I be the one?"
He said "You must crucify the Father to be saved by the Son"
Paradoxical salvation for a nation of all names
I hear rebellious spirits and they're writhing in the flames
Intoxicated by the wine of adulteries of Babylon
and on and on...it goes on and on...
Withdrawn in guilt and fear I plunged the spear into his side
and a feeling of despair as my sins were amplified
As water and blood spilled, the Scripture was fulfilled
I thought I murdered the martyr, but it was myself that I had killed
Teeth gnashing, pain thrashing, Christ's final words haunted me
"I'd have given you anything you wanted, if you'd only wanted me"

Greetings,

I am reminded of very sad and moving stories of torturers and executioners of Christians in the USSR who were under threat to themselves and families of gruelling and cruel punishment if they did not do their 'job'.... while Christians in the West sang happy clappy songs and either had no idea or refused to believe that these monstrous deeds of evil were being carried out against both the executioner and the Christian. I would hate to have been in their position.

I think perhaps it is a long stretch of the literary pen to say, ""You must crucify the Father to be saved by the Son"" but it is also a long stretch of my understanding to accept what I think you were saying.

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:29-30)

Bless you ....><>

Share away, my friend. The words belong to Jesus, anyway. From God's whispering lips to my fingertips. No doubt. Peace

Well, it's quite a stretch of my own understanding to accept what I think God is saying to me at any given moment. Fortunately, I am granted baby steps. If I were to learn all that the Lord intends for me to learn at once, my heart and mind would explode. Ha! For real, though. The Father and the Son are one. It matters not which order I put them in. The entire Bible is a paradox. To me, anyway. So much truth within truth. I've had moments where the Bible makes so little sense that it makes perfect sense. The more I read, and the less I try to comprehend, the more it reads and comprehends me. Peace
