On September 11, 2012, the Lord put it in my heart and mind to write a song titled, “For Our Nation,” which, in video form, chronicles some of the history of our nation from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, to the assassination of JFK, to the attacks on the Twin Towers on 9/11/01, to the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq, to Hurricane Katrina, and perhaps more. The song also points to the reality that some or all of our US presidents (left and right) have lied to us and have betrayed the people of this nation, and are not people, generally speaking, that we should be putting our faith and trust in.

At this time I had also joined Linkedin, where I began sharing some of the songs that the Lord had been giving me to write. A music producer, by the name of Gerry Peters, in Nashville, TN, contacted me about professionally recording some of my songs. I immediately told him, “No,” because I knew I was not recording material. At one time, in my younger years, I had a good voice, but now I was 62 years of age, and my voice had seen better days. But he responded to me by asking me if I had prayed about it. Sadly, I had to admit that I had not prayed about it, and so I then did pray about it.

As soon as I began to pray, the Lord began to flood my mind and heart with all sorts of Scripture verses and with Christian songs which all gave me the message that I was to go. So, I said, “Yes.” And then I prayed about what song, and the Lord led me to record, “For Our Nation.” And so Mr. Peters and I began the process of working on the song together until we agreed on an arrangement. And we did this long distance via emails back and forth where he would share with me what he had and where I would approve it or not, and to where I could suggest something different or in addition, etc.

My husband, of course, had to be in agreement with all of this, and he was. But when it came close to time for us to drive to Nashville, TN, to record this song, I lost my voice. It was gone. I could not sing. So, I prayed about it, and my husband and I talked about together, and I told the producer about it, and we all agreed that my husband and I would go on faith, and we would trust the Lord to give me the voice, when needed, or to trust that the Lord had another plan and reason for us to go to Nashville, and that he would work it all out for good, for his purposes and for his glory.

So we drove to Nashville, and we got a hotel room, and I still had no voice. The next morning, I still had no voice. Right before I was to record, I still had no voice. So I stood at the microphone, totally on faith, and when the music started, the voice was there. The voice that God wanted for this song was there. And I had to sing, not only the melody, but the background voice, as well. Then Mr. Peters wanted me to keep going, but the voice was gone again. What we had was enough for what God wanted. The Lord said it was finished. And then we took the recording home with us.

At that time I was also trying my hand at putting pictures with these songs to help illustrate them. Eventually that ended up being more than I could do, so I did not continue that practice. But for this song, the Lord gave me the exact pictures he wanted to go along with this song, and the pictures are what help tell the story. I live in a very broken nation. And we have had presidents who lied to the people, and who did crooked things, and who betrayed the people of our nation, resulting in some of the things pictured in the song. So we must not put our trust in “princes” who lie and betray.

But our trust must be in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him alone!

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

That is some good lyrics. I know how the Lord works, especially when it comes to Faith in him. It can be stressful sometimes. But once you surrender into the will of the father then there's a certain peace that comes with it.
-----------
My dad used to sing in the Opera years ago, but after he got married me and my mom would you do these shows that they called Musical Melodies.
They would always perform at nursing homes, or other places where people were cooped up for long periods of time. Certain types of hospitals or children's homes even. They offered everything to the Lord and did not accept any money. I remember how some of the shows we have not only Opera, but Rag-time music and skits that other people would perform.

My mom played a marimba that's made out of wood, it's an instrument that cannot get wet. I cannot tell you how many times that we took apart that marimba, packed it up in the back of the station wagon and reassembled it at nursing homes and all these other places. And how many times it stopped raining while we loaded the marimba into the station wagon or unloaded it. There was one particular day I remember it was pouring rain outside, as soon as my dad opened the door to take the first piece of marimba outside it stopped. Then it would pour the whole way over to where we were going to take the marimba. And then it stopped again as soon as we started unloading the marimba and then the same way going the other way back home. God is always miraculous

Thank you. Glory to God. I appreciate you sharing your story with me. That is sweet. I sang in nursing homes, in hospitals, at weddings, at funerals, in the gatherings of the church, etc. I enjoyed ministering to other people, too. My parents were musicians too. I really enjoyed hearing about your parents.
