In need of salvation

Can a person just logically sit down and way out the cost and decide and believe to be saved without all the emotions and feelings. I know the truth but seem so hard and cold.
Hello @Rock1472,

Feelings are fickle, and emotions are transient, but the truth of the gospel of the grace of God concerning His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, is solid and unshakeable. It is possible to hear the word of God, and for the seed of faith to be planted, without all the razzmatazz of an emotional experience. For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Faith rests on God's promises, and He is not man that He should lie. He never fails, and He saves to the uttermost those who come to Him for salvation, through Jesus Christ His Son, now risen and glorified, and sat at God's right hand.

You are His workmanship. Trust Him. :)

Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
our Lord and Head.
Chris

Thanks for the response and encouragement! I do have some sins that I can’t seem to shake but I know I have to
Let go of those.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. ... 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Jesus Christ will help you lay aside the weights ( provisions for the flesh ) and the sins daily in walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.

Romans 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

It’s like I believe the right things. I have heard submit and surrender but that seems like a work.

How did He help you quit alcohol abuse, drug abuse, smoking, and gambling? How is He helping you to stay away from it too?

Hello Rock1472,

Take your eyes off yourself, and reckon as God reckons. For He sees you, IN Christ Jesus. In Him you are holy and without blame , He has forgiven you all your sins, and you are now to reckon on God's facts of faith, that you are indeed dead unto sin, but alive unto God, through Jesus Christ Your Lord and Saviour.

It is done, you are complete in Him: Looking within, you will be aware of how you fall short, but looking up you will become more and more aware of God's love and grace, and His power towards you that believe.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Knowing the truth intellectually and believing it in your heart to Salvation are different things. We have to all make a choice by faith whether to choose to follow the Lord and do what He says. We have to count the cost Jesus says as well. As long as You believe in Your heart that Christ paid the price for Your sins and confess Him as Lord and that He rose on the 3d day you will be saved and receive His Holy Spirit to help you to live out the Christian life. The Christian life is one of progress and not of perfection. It is one of confession, repentance and trusting in the Lord to help us to turn from our sins entrusting to the Lord our trust and having faith that He will give us new hearts that want to and do love what He loves and hate what He hates and live our lives accordingly. For myself sometimes I don't feel like reading the word and don't always have the feeling to worship and praise but as I do the feelings and emotions for God return. Hope this helps.

Dear Rock,
First welcome to Talk Jesus an online community of Christian believers!
I truly hope you will find fellowship, and growth in God's Word while you are here!
You have a great group of Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus that will help as the Holy Spirit moves them to!

Now to answer one particular statement you made which I quoted above.
It is work, because God made you anew through believing in His Son Jesus Christ a Creation that you might do good works!

Therefore, if anyone [is] in Christ, [he is] a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

Too often people want the Salvation, but still want to go their own way, and do their own things (sin). God did not Sacrifice His Son so that you can continue to sin, but rather to repair a broken relationship with humanity, so that they wouldn't have to sin which is what has kept us from having a relationship with God in the first place! So, is it work? Yes, but now in Christ Jesus you're not doing it alone!!! You have all the help necessary to be an overcomer.

But thanks [be] to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. 1 John 5:4 NKJV

Which brings to mind one of my favorite Scripture Verses :) "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the [life] which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20 NKJV

So, you are no longer living for selfish reasons, but are living for Jesus who gave His all that you might be united with a Living, Loving, God! Alleluia!

Now, if you still consider this "work", then think on it as a Labor of Love! He our Lord & Savior gave His all, and there is little enough that we can do to show that we appreciate it! :)

Have to go Brother!
I will be praying that whatever burden you are carrying that you will be released from it and be all the stronger for it!!!
Keep the faith!!

With the Love of Christ Jesus, once again be welcomed!!!

To begin with, NOBODY comes to Christ, unless they are DRAWN TO HIM by Father God (john 6:44)

And "Belief" (mental assent) accomplishes NOTHING. The key is Eph 2:8,9

The FAITH (NOT "Mental assent") that saves has to be gifted by God, since humans are incapable in self-generating it. The normal sequence is to be CONVICTED by God by the Holy Spirit of their SIN and of impending judgement. Then the person surrenders to the Spirit, and repents of their SIN, and cries out under conviction for salvation. THEN the Holy Spirit indwells, and the person is "Born Again of the Spirit".

We all have darkness in our lives believe me I fight mine everyday, but the Bible says we are cleansed by the blood of Christ yesterday today and forever. God knows every sin you have committed and will commit and that is why he sent his son here so we could have fellowship with him and he could test his eyes upon us and not see all the sin. Jesus' blood covers all believers forever.

By looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin daily is how we walk in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son, by the grace of God. That is how we are cleansed daily too.

1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. ....... 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
