We have lost so much of the meaning of the Word "truth" that the English language has lost it's meaning of clarity that we do not understand one another any more. And all of this has been by design. To cause great confusion concerning in regards to "The Biblical Truth". For a house divided against its self cannot stand a kingdom divided against its self cannot stand, a country divided by itself cannot stand, a city divided against itself cannot stand, a home divided by itself cannot stand a institution divided against itself cannot stand, For this is "The Absolute TRUTH". a husband and wife divided against one another cannot stand. the Bible is a "Absolute Truth" for Jesus The Christ of GOD is "The TRUTH" He said: "I AM THE TRUTH" he said the words I speak are "True", and there are 4 other kinds of truths in the English language as we learned in grammar school concerning the English language if we can remember them as they were taught to us and they are:

"objective, normative, subjective and complex truth.":eyes:

And we as little kids were taught how to use them and how to recognize them as spoken and written.

Then when we learn about Jesus as we read the Bible.

NASB 1977
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and The Truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.

John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and Truth.

John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses; GRACE and TRUTH came through Jesus Christ.

[And you shall know me and I will make you free]
John 8:32
And ye shall know THE TRUTH, and THE TRUTH shall make you free.
John 15:1
I am the TRUE VINE, and my Father is the husbandman.

American Standard Version John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am THE WAY, and THE TRUTH, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 18 BSB
37“Then You are a king!” Pilate said. “You say that I am a king,” Jesus answered. “For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to The Truth. Everyone who belongs to The Truth listens to My voice.” 38“What is truth?Pilate asked. And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and told them, “I find no basis for a charge against Him.…

Pilate could not find no Fought in "THE TRUTH". His Name Was "JESUS" Who Is "THE TRUTH" that came into the world>
And Jesus told us in His WORD:

NASB 1977 John 6:63
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Just because a word is spelled the same does not mean they have the same meaning in the English language, now days we have to exhaust all the meaning of a word when we read it, Words in the English languages evolves what it meant when we were growing up, have many "tentacles" now and on occasions have the opposite meaning as well. For instance the word "Girl' also meant a small little boy" in the past.

"Where does the word girl come from? The word girl, meaning “a female child,” originally meant any “child” or “young person,” regardless of gender. Girl, for “child,” is recorded around 1250–1300. However, the original source of the word is uncertain."

Many have forgotten how we used to go to a Library just to read Dictionaries and encyclopedias. we went there just to read these reference books. we read them not looking up things. we had library cards, one day we be playing outside and say Hey, lets go to the Library or the "Institute of ARTS" or the historical Museum, and walk there. It was no assignment from school or our teachers. we knew paintings, Sculpture works by names. we did not have a "internet" and computers, how many have so forgot. what we did to pass time. we knew about the Jet age, the Nuclear age, the space age the Iron Age, the automobile age. we knew about diseases and could set broken bones and could tell a fracture. and we where little kids. I remember reading about little kids working in the steel mills, the Goal mines, the factories and how they pass child labor laws, union organizations laws, we did learn about these things by reading the news papers and reading about them in The encyclopedia books, and reading "Literature Book" reading about Poets. this is what we did for entertainment. We study globes and maps on our own. Now days college graduates do not even know the counties on the Globes are at. even the USA and they are college professors! they cannot even name all of the States in the USA and where they are located at! and please do not ask any body about "Shorthand" and my own kids are amazed that I can type on the computer so fast without looking at the key broad. and they ask how you do that, type words without looking at the letters.:sob: so many things have so evolved even "acronyms" and Hebrew type expressing meanings by leaving out great chucks of words.
Now days young kids and many adults do not even know how to open a new book and break it in before reading it,

And the Bible does not lie. Do not engage with them.

Hello @PloughBoy,

I love the fact that the verses you chose to reference, containing the word 'Truth', have the meaning of 'not concealing', of 'not being hid'. You also quoted John 6:63 (above), and again this is a passage of Scripture that I love: in which we are to eat of Him and drink of Him. How is that done? Is it not by hearing, believing, and appropriating the words that He spoke. 'For the flesh profiteth nothing' . Where the words of God are concerned, all is of the spirit, and they are life: imparting spiritual life to those who listen, inwardly digest, and actively believe and appropriate them.

'I have not spoken in secret,
in a dark place of the earth:
I said not unto the seed of Jacob,
"Seek ye me" in vain:
I the LORD speak righteousness,
I declare things that are right.'
(Isa 45:19)

Praise God!

Thank you

Hello @PloughBoy,

Forgive me if my contributions were not clearly identifiable as appropriate. It was the nature of Truth as being something that is, 'not concealed', 'nor hidden' which caught my attention, and so I went down that route.

* The Lord Jesus Christ referred to Himself as, 'The Way, the Truth and the Life': i.e., The True and Living Way to The Father.

* The first usage of the word, 'Truth', in the Old Testament, is in Genesis 24:27, spoken by Abraham's servant Eliezer:-

'And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.
And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham,
who hath not left destitute my master of His mercy and His truth:
I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.'
(Genesis 24:26-27)

* The word, 'Truth', here, is Strong's H571 ('emeth) meaning, 'Stability': and figuratively, 'certainty', 'truth' & 'trustworthiness'; and is translated elsewhere in Scripture, ( 'Assured (-ly), Establishment, Faithful, Right, Sure, True (-ly, -th), Verity). All of these words conjure up in my mind and being a sense of 'bedrock', of substance and security, which is what the Truth of God is, to all who received it.

[ Unfortunately, when that word, 'bedrock',came into my mind, along with it came, 'yabba dabba doo!!' of Fred Flintstone fame!! He has a lot to answer for!! :laughing: ]

* See also the words of Jacob, in Genesis 32:9-12:-

'And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac,
the LORD which saidst unto me,
"Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:"
I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all The Truth,
which Thou hast shewed unto Thy servant;
for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
Deliver me, I pray Thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau:
for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.
And Thou saidst, I will surely do thee good,
and make thy seed as the sand of the sea,
which cannot be numbered for multitude.'

* Jacob was leaning on the promises that He had received of the Lord, they were the Truth that he had received, and He was bringing it to the Lord, almost as a promissory note, here. We have been given great and precious promises too, in Christ Jesus: He is our 'promissory note', and on Him, Who is our Truth we depend.

Praise His Holy Name!

@PloughBoy,

Truth:- H530
אֱמֻנָה אֱמוּנָה
'ĕmûnâh 'ĕmûnâh
em-oo-naw', em-oo-naw'
Feminine of H529 (i.e., established, trusty, trustworthy) ;
Meaning:- literally 'firmness'; figuratively 'security'; 'moral fidelity'.
Translated:- faith (-ful, -ly, -ness, [man]), set office, stability, steady, truly, truth, verily.

How great is our God!

'Thou hast given a banner to them that fear Thee,
that it may be displayed because of the truth. (H7189) Selah.
That Thy beloved may be delivered;
save with Thy right hand, and hear me.'
(Psa. 60:4-5)

Truth:- H7189
קֹשְׁטְ קֹשֶׁט
qosheṭ qoshṭ
ko'-shet, kosht
From an unused root meaning to balance;
equity (as evenly weighed), that is, reality
Translated: - certainty, truth.

'O LORD, Thou art my God; I will exalt Thee,
I will praise Thy name;
for Thou hast done wonderful things;
Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth (H544).'
(Isa 25:1)

Truth:- H544
אֹמֶן
'ômen
oh-men'
From H539; verity
Translated: - truth.
Total KJV occurrences: 1

* This one, though short in description is enhanced by looking up the description of H539. Which I have not got time at the moment to record here, but it has a description which brings depth and wealth to the meaning of H544, and gives much food for thought.

Thank you, @PloughBoy.

*OK, this may seen repetitive, and unnecessary, but these differences, though slight, do have importance: otherwise they would not exist in God's Word.

I love God's Word, both Living, in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, or written: which is also 'living', for I have experienced the emotion or reaction that the words used engendered, without knowing what the exact meaning of the words used may mean, and it is later that I find that the meaning which produced the emotion was strong and evocative and achieved the effect the Holy Spirit sought, in my inner man, without the flesh having a part in it, for it did not know. I hope that makes sense.

This is the Holy Spirit's sword, and He it is that wields it. He is it's author, and the words are of His choosing.

Hello @PloughBoy,

I would like to continue with these references to TRUTH, in order to be sure that I miss nothing of the wealth that God has given in His usage of it. So, though I am not joined by others I will go on, starting with H543, which is, like those previously looked at, from the Old Testament:-

'That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of Truth;
and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of Truth;
because the former troubles are forgotten,
and because they are hid from Mine eyes.'
(Isa 65:16)

Praise God!

Truth:- H543 - אָמֵן - 'âmên - (aw-mane')
From H539; meaning:- sure; abstractly faithfulness; adverbially truly
Translated: - Amen, so be it, truth.
Total KJV occurrences: 30

* 'The God of Truth' - who is 'sure' and 'faithful' and 'truly' is what He says He is in His word. The response of my spirit to this verse (in it's context) can be expressed in the words that H543 is translated into:- 'Amen', 'So be it', wondrous 'Truth'.

* In reply#12 I referred to H539, but was not able to take it further, because of time, but I find it here again in regard to H543, so will look at it again, for I believe the Lord wants me to. It's first occurrence is in Numbers 11:12, and the words, 'as a nursing Father'. In these words of Moses, we can see that he is beside himself, at the end of his tether, and cries out to the God:-

'Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families,
.. every man in the door of his tent:
.... and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly;
...... Moses also was displeased.
........ And Moses said unto the LORD,
"Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?
.. and wherefore have I not found favour in Thy sight,
.... that Thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
...... Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them,
........ that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom,
.......... as A Nursing Father (H539) beareth the sucking child,
............ unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?"
(Num 11:10-12)

Truth - H539 - אָמַן - 'âman (aw-man')
A primitive root;
Meaning:- properly to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse;
figuratively to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet;
morally to be true or certain; once (in Isaiah 30:21; by interchange for H541) to go to the right hand
Translated: - hence assurance, believe, bring up, establish, + fail, be faithful (of long continuance, stedfast, sure, surely, trusty, verified),
nurse, (-ing father), (put), trust, turn to the right.

Total KJV occurrences: 108

* The God of Truth in Isaiah 65:16 (above) is indeed firm, faithful, to be trusted, or believed, for He is true and certain. Also, He, in Christ Jesus, has lifted us, in spirit, to His right hand. This gives us such assurance, such reason to believe, doesn't it? From the moment we believe, He raises us as His Child, as a nursing Father, and is of long continuance, steadfast, and sure. [I had a brother, who virtually brought his two boys up, bathed them, changed their nappies, wiped their noses, comforted them when they were sad, played with them, taught them, admonished them, being both Father and Mother to them, steadfastly until the day he died]. This is A Nursing Father, this is our God, our Heavenly Father, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Praise His Holy Name!

Thank you

* Again the power of God is witnessed by the disciples, as they see the Lord Jesus walking on the water, and the truth of Whom He was was revealed to their wondering gaze, so that they could say, 'of a truth,' or, 'of a surety', 'truly' - 'Thou art the Son of God.'

* This brings to my mind the words of the risen Lord, to Thomas, in John 20:29:-

'And Thomas answered and said unto him," My Lord and my God."
Jesus saith unto him, "Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed:
blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."'

(Joh 20:28-29)

Praise God!

The Bible is an "Absolute Truth" for Jesus The Christ of GOD is "The TRUTH" He said: "I AM THE TRUTH" he said the words I speak are "True", and there are 4 other kinds of truths in the English language as we learned in grammar school concerning the English language if we can remember them as they were taught to us and they are:

"objective, normative, subjective and complex truth.":eyes:

And we as little kids were taught how to use them and how to recognize them as spoken and written.
Hello @PloughBoy,

You refer to the Bible as an 'Absolute Truth'. Then refer to four grammatical forms of truth, 'objective', 'normative', 'subjective' and 'complex' truth. I was not taught this, so have had to look them up. Perhaps you can tell me if I have understood them correctly:-

- Objective truth stands alone, and is true for everyone regardless of whether they agree or not.
- Normative truth is truth that is common to all, in that all agree to it, like the use of the word, 'day' to describe a period of light.
- Subjective truth is subject to how the individual sees or experiences the world.
- Complex truth acknowledges all of the above, but allows you to focus on what is most useful to you at any given time.

Now days young kids and many adults do not even know how to open a new book and break it in before reading it,
And we can forget about the

adjective.

And when you speak people want to correct you in the English and Hebrew and the greek, you might as well just listen, because it is a lost cause. and the Bible backs you up, it is useless said the "WORD of GOD" and do not go there with them. if you do you are going against The "Commands of GOD' and you will suffer the Consequence. And the Bible does not lie. Do not engage with them.
* I find the Strong's concordance an invaluable tool, yet even it's descriptions of the meaning of a word can contain bias, for it is a work of man, and must be measured by the context of the word being defined, within the Bible itself.

* The way the Holy Spirit uses words within the Scriptures can be used to aid us in our understanding, by comparing one Scripture with another, in which the same word is found, so that we are independent of all human intervention or understanding.

* Only by doing our own investigation into the doctrines observed and required by the differing denominations, can we be free from false doctrine, and worship God in a manner that is acceptable to Him. Only God's word is absolute truth: Yet even that must be rightly divided.

Thank you

I do see and behold, "that You do see "the truth" and No "The TRUTH" is opening your "Spiritual Eyes" that now you are seeing "all Truths" :

For your words makes my soul rings with Everlasting joy; for you do see "The TRUTH".

King James Bible
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.":)

I notice it has become natural and you will not need "Strongs" any longer, for he have given you the eyes to see.:pensive: Know The TRUTH and The TRUTH will set you Free. [ Like a Bird, that's has escape from The snare and Flying into The SUN as you behold it's "silhouette" as it gains Flight, flapping its wings so graceful , flying without fear and heading For The SUN, and feeling The warm rays of The "Satisfaction" of The Contentment that is only found in "GOD" for GOD ALONE and Christ ALONE] I hope I am singing the song as whisperings into your soul, and that you can feel the brotherly Love that only a true Child of God Can feel, "The Koinonia" that has been given to us By Our Father who is The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY that No human can experience unless they have Been "BORN OF GOD" a type of LOVE that Not One Human, born of the Flesh can ever experience as We Go from Glory to Glory where there is no end. As we fuel one another, for we are "wells with Springing waters" The rivers that have not been polluted, but washing one another over and over again..:)

"Love ye one Another" because the World hates you they cannot love you and you need one another to keep your lights burning, and Stay in The LIGHT! For the world loves their own and they do not love you. If they say they do, they lie and Tell you not "the truth" know "The TRUTH" and The TRUTH will set you free!:) Rushing Rivers of waters.

I hope my grammar is ok, oh how I am excited, and my soul, is so happy.
