'Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.'
(Psa 23:4)
Hello there,
My elder sister is possibly at this very moment undergoing a potentially dangerous medical procedure, and I have obviously had her on my mind since I woke this morning. It is a procedure that requires that she remain awake, for it is exploratory, and she will only be anesthetised if what is found requires a further surgical procedure immediately; but if her blood pressure is too high she will not be able to have the procedure at all, and will have to be presumably sent home.
The Scripture that came to my mind as I woke was the one quoted above from Psalm 23. For I know that the Lord is with her, and that He will sustain her, and enable her to endure. She has been diagnosed with breast and bowel cancer, so her life expectancy cannot be long.
She was enlightened as to her need of the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour at the age of 17 years, in a Billy Graham rally, and the Lord began a work in her, which He has continued throughout her life, but only in these latter 15 years have her eyes been opened to Him in all His fulness, and to the riches of His glory. I have watched this growth, and been blessed through witnessing God's hand upon her, revealing, chastening, and blessing as necessary, as her eyes have been opened to His truth, in Christ Jesus her Lord and Saviour.
So I want to thank God for His loving-kindness, His mercy and His grace, and leave her in His loving care, whatever the outcome. May His name be praised.
Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
our Lord and Head.
Chris
