Is a prayer a prayer or should i always get on my knees .

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing,

I would say that its great if your praying all through the day, I dont think we can be on our knees at all times
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

I do think its also a good idea to have certain times of day to be on our knees or even on our face in a certain place to worship the Lord and always give thanks and tell God about whats on our heart in Jesus name always

Daniel in the bible prayed three times a day, seems like a good model to follow,

beginning... middle... and end... always renewing our spirit

I like to pray at any time but I don't always get on my knees and close my eyes the majority of my prayers are while Im just doing what I do.

Hello Frank,
As Brother Dave hit on the right verses for you. I'll tell you that I've prayed while driving, and didn't even close my eyes! I've also have said prayers as I've passed ambulances or scenes of accidents. Always remember that this is between you and God. So, privacy is good for prayer, because you can be focused on it, but not a "have to" by any means. Pray away Brother Frank!!!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Praying to Father God or Jesus should be like having a conversation with Him. If He was sitting in your lounge, you might kneel down before Him to show reverence to Him. I think it's the attitude of your heart that is most important. Don't be concerned with what others say. Ask God what He wants you to do. Read your Bible, especially the Psalms to find out how David worshipped God.

If you have problems with pride, then get on your knee's as often as possible, but indeed, do it in private. Otherwise just pray in your mind, that way others dont see you as prideful for they wont hear you or know you are doing it. But mostly, just do it often.

The opening question. Prayer is our talking to God through Jesus Christ. A person can pray Anywhere / Anytime. God always hears us. A person's posture / position is not important. Like one of the posters shared -- he prays while driving with his eyes open. I , personally, Can't get down on my knees -- haven't been able to for years. I do my praying silently. A year or so ago -- I met with a small group of believers from church. It was a while before I'd pray out loud. That group no longer exists. Haven't prayed outloud since then. But at church at the end of someone's prayer -- there are some Amens as the prayer closes.

God wants us to talk to Him. That's what prayer is about. If a person feels led To pray on their knees that's their choice. Praying -- unless it's in church -- should be done in private.

Prayer is talking to God .

When you talk with your father , there are different ways in witch we talk . Just having fun , joking around is one thing . And other times " hey dad can we talk a moment " . Maybe you have gotten serious and are thinking of marriage . It is then that we too should approach God in like manner .

There are times scripture shows us a God of humor . Moses and the Burning Bush , or Jonah and the tree that grows in a single day . As scripture States " and to soothe is ill humor " meaning Jonah

And other times God is very serious .
He is Our Father after all
