Hi All,
I wonder why it was, and still is, hard for many people around the world to understand “Son of God”.
[1] If someone introduces himself as a ‘son of desert’, do we hear him say that ‘desert’ is his father or mother?
[2] If a kid is called a ‘son of sin’, do we hear that ‘sin’ has to be his father or mother?
It was always obvious to know that ‘desert’ and ‘sin’ cannot be a parent because the world knows well and in advance the meanings of ‘desert’ and ‘sin’.
In general, to Pagans and Jews, then to Muslims (therefore, to most atheists too), the notion of ‘God’ or ‘the Creator’ refers to a ‘One-of-His-Kind’ Supernatural Being. But this image of God has nothing to do with Jesus’ message that focuses solely on the power of the Spirit of Love (known as the Holy Spirit) which unifies the wills of two independent beings, if accepted in them, and let them have One Will towards any outsider.
If the word ‘God’ refers to a ‘One Being’ only, this God, no matter how good he might be, has no choice but to love himself, that is, to be selfish. Please let us be rational. There is no true love between a master and his slave/follower. A master is good only if his slave/follower is obedient. In fact, as you know, ‘True Love’ cannot exist in a family if the husband or his wife insists to play the master of the house.
I guess you know already what Jesus says about the Holy Spirit:
“Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”
This very clear saying shows us that the image of God has to include the Ultimate Unifying Spirit of Love, the Holy Spirit. I am afraid that if someone cannot perceive, in any way, the existence of the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit of Love) in his life, he can’t get, even if he wants to (as we will see below) anything Jesus says related to God’s spiritual realm. Even in the material world, if we remove the ‘chemical love’ from human’s life, the great majority of humans would have no reason to work hard and look for survival. I had the chance to witness this fact, in person, many times in my rather long life. Also, let us recall that, in the material world, if a client contacts just one of two partners who founded a company by signing a certain unifying contract, he would be aware in advance that he is actually contacting their ‘one’ company that represents their ‘one will’ (in doing business with others).
Similarly, in the spiritual world, the word ‘God’ refers simply to the ‘One Will’ of our Father in Heaven (not incarnated) and Jesus (incarnated) who were unified, before Creation, by the Holy Spirit. So, it was natural for Jesus to say “I and ‘the Father’ are one” for having One Will, not two. Please note that, on some English Gospels, if not all, ‘the Father’ is replaced with ‘my Father’. I personally prefer ‘The Father’ because He is also my Heavenly Father (and yours, if you like).
So, the expression ‘Son of God’ means, to me in the least, that Jesus came (incarnated) directly from Heaven, having therefore all-knowledge of the One Will (God); the Will of our Heavenly Father and Jesus’ Will, unified fully by the Holy Spirit since before Creation.
Anyway, I am afraid that those who are created to serve the material world only (guided only by their instincts of survival, superiority, selfishness and applying a certain justice on others... to name a few) cannot get/accept this image of God, which is based on the Unifying Spirit of Love, the Holy Spirit. They are much like Nicodemus to whom Jesus said:
“If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”
So now, it is natural that billions of humans around the world have to see the belief in the existence of the Divine Unifying Holy Spirit as a serious blasphemy against the image of God, they are familiar to, of a One-of-His-Kind Supernatural Supreme King.
