The Bible states "for with God all things are possible" and " with God nothing shall be impossible'.
Although these statement are technically true , are there are self imposed boundaries in which God functions ?
An example is that although it is within the realm of possibilities we would not drive our car in a tree at high speed. We would say "I can't do that" although technically we could.
The same princile applies when God claims that it is impossible for him to do something. One example is lying.
Paul states "it is impossible for God to lie..""
Most liquely it's because God will not do anything that is against his principles or character, such as being unjust, illogical, irrational, unreasonable, inconsistent or create a paradoxe.
Some have asked absurd question such as, can God create a stone so heavy that He cannot lift it ? Or can God die ? The first is a illogical paradox, the second is inconsitent with His statement that He will not change. (obviously dying constitute a major change ) and that He is God 'for all times".
The boundaries in question, are set up by God himself, Nonetheless these are boundaries that God will not disregard or ignore even at high personal cost. The best example of this is the ransom sacrifice of his son.
