New Heavens and a New Earth

“See, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever
in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
and its people a joy.
I will rejoice over Jerusalem
and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.
“Never again will there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;
the one who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach a hundred
will be considered accursed.
They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
the work of their hands.
They will not labor in vain,
nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune;
for they will be a people blessed by the Lord,
they and their descendants with them.
Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
and dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord.

So, what are your thoughts on this passage? Someone today asked me about this, specifically the last verse. I always thought this was a reference to the millennium, but it talks of people dying, and once we have glorified bodies we won't die anymore. I looked at several commentaries. A couple of them implied this was more symbolic and not to be taken literally. I don't think I have studied this section of scripture much before, not that I can find, so thought I would ask for your thoughts on it, in case some of you have studied it. Thanks!

Humans will survive the Great Tribulation. A "remnant" of Jews, representing each of the 12 tribes, will be alive to see Messiah return to set-up his earthly kingdom. Gentiles will also survive to repopulate the earth.
The role of the glorified believers (body of Christ) will have a role akin to "supervisors" over the humans of the "nations". Jesus will, of course, be upon "David's Throne" on Zion, in Jerusalem, in Israel.

It surprises some people to know that even after the millennial reign, there will be "mortals" and even "unbelievers".

As Sue said.. we will have glorified bodies. But yet there will be some people who need healing from time to time.
Rev 22:2; says the leaves of the tree of life "were for the healing of the nations. (the people on the earth)

Rev 20:8; says after Satan is imprisoned for 1,000 years, he is let loose "for a season" (however long that is)
and gathers up an army "like the sands of the sea". Keep in mind this is all AFTER the millennial reign.
(because it says in Rev 20:7; "after Satan is released from his 1,000 year imprisonment".)

And then after all of this...
Rev 22:15; says outside the new Jerusalem there will be "dogs, sorcerers, immoral people, murderers, idolaters,
and people who practice lying". So even after the millennial reign, and even after the New Jerusalem comes down,
there will still be mortals and unbelievers.

Besides, if some of us ruling and reigning with Jesus,... who are we ruling and reigning over? It says "the nations"
(the people on the earth).

I'm not sure I catch all of @Beameup meaning, but I personally believe there will be many more than just 144,000
Jews in heaven. The 144,000 are simply those Jews specific Jews that have "kept themselves chaste from women, and have never lied"
and are "blameless" ( Rev 14:4-5; )

It is obvious that there are going to be varied viewpoints and beliefs on this subject, which can be confusing, but I appreciate all input, because this is a subject I am not well versed in, so keep the responses coming. This is helping.

When someone is clearly promoting a false message rather than respond just report it....responding just opens the way for more to be posted

Trumpeter is caught up in something that is false, let us remember him in prayer that he is open to the truth.

Fragrant Grace, Thank you. I appreciate you looking into this, and for your advice in this matter. And, yes, I will pray for him. I was very concerned about what he was sharing.
