and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. Matthew 17:2 NKJV
In many ways, the transfiguration of Jesus is a sneak preview of His bodily resurrection appearances and His eternal radiance and glory in heaven.
So what is your proper response to the transfiguration? Clearly, it’s not fear. Instead, your proper response is belief and trust (1) in Jesus’ divinity as God’s Son and (2) in the new covenant that He offers through the Good News message of the Gospel. The more clearly your family members and friends see and understand these two proper responses, the more they will celebrate the Lord’s love and friendship now—and forever.
The Good News message is deeply rooted in who God is, in His covenant with His people, in His judgment, in His great sacrifice, in the Day of Atonement, and in Passover. The Good News also is deeply rooted in who Jesus is, in His new covenant with His people, and in all He did for your redemption, reconciliation, propitiation, and justification.
When you speak about the Gospel with someone, remember the example of Jesus. Do so winsomely, with great compassion and love, from one happy heart to their own.
Prayer: Lord, transform me. You told us, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14 ESV). May I shine more brightly for You both today and in coming days.
