Jesus main power seems to be invisibility, also the Devil and his demons are harming people from an invisible world.

This sounds wholly convenient, that you can't dispute what you can't see. He's really there says the Christian, but you must believe. But there's something wrong with this picture, it detracts from the real.

There has been tests done on belief, and what is found is that the emotional side of the brain is stimulated. It seems belief in something is a emotional experience, nothing more.

So I'll get to my question

Why should I believe in your invisible God?

Oh man, this sounds like a fun one.

Okay, so. There are 2 groups of people, 1 group is the science group that tells you that we evolved from monkeys or apes or some crazy nonsense like that, and they will also say what you just said, that you can only believe in what you can see.

The other group are the religious/faith based people who will say that we were made by a higher power (God) and you should believe in him.

So, here's my point. You can be like the scientific group who thinks we are monkeys all grown up and that there is nothing after you die but you rotting in the ground and maggots and darkness for ever.

Or you can realize that your not a monkeys uncle and believe that you were created by God and believe in him and after you die your soul/spirit/consciousness will go up into heaven and live with him and your loved ones for the rest of eternity.

Or maybe even more simply put is that, you cant see the air but you know its there don't you?

Its called having Faith, and Faith is what separates us from the animals.

You didn't seem address any of my issues, and I don't know why you brought up evolution.

You asked why you should believe in an invisible God, so I extensively answered your question then summed it up for you in my last two sentences.

Although I will say that I agree with what your saying about the emotional side of the brain being stimulated by faith because it sure does feel that way, and it feels great. I was on anti-depressants back in my mid to late teen years and by my early 20s I realized that being happy is a state of mind and a choice and felt as though I wasn't depressed anymore, so I got myself off of them.

Id love to help you more if you have any other questions or comments on this.

No I don't want to talk about creationism vs evolution.

I think your premise is wrong to begin with.
In fact you just confirm what you're saying and that is that "you can't dispute what you can't see." It seems folks are always disputing as you say "what you can't see".
Folks will say...
First that Jesus never existed.
Second that Jesus died on the Cross.
Thirdly that anyone saw Him after His resurrection.
And the list can go on and on and on.............

Let's not even bring in the Bible as the Word of God!!!!!!! :-)

So, to say that you can't dispute what you can't see is something that has been going on since.........I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm saying.

So, to answer the why believe in an invisible God?
So, He can give you the sight that will allow to see yourself as you really are and the way to be complete in Him that only ones Creator can do.

Look around at some of the testimonies of the folks here. They might provide perspective on why many believe as they believe!

You might also try individual bios as well.

I'll point out here that your comment about the Bible existing, as sure evidence of your God being real is flawed. Sorry, but if I'm going to give credence to an invisible God via it's source mythological stories. Then I would have to give credence to all mythology's and there books.

As for my comment about not being able to dispute what you can't see, needs to be understood in it's context.

If you're convinced by belief that a pink elephant is following you around, and at the same time accept that the pink elephant has to be invisible. You wont ever dispute it's existence,

You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't change facts and dictate the truth. Truth is not debatable.

"Invisible" is not an excuse either. Electricity is invisible. Air is invisible. Wifi is invisible. We all use and/or depend on these don't we? That's just a tiny starting point.

Miracles? You cannot dispute the miracles God has and continues to perform around the world, including in my life.

Prophesy fulfilled, you cannot dispute those either.

I suggest focusing on facts and history instead of coming to a Christian forum to post your opinions.

For the sake of clarity. My mention of scripture, the Bible was not used by me as proof of the existence of God, but rather as an example of people such as yourself saying "you can't dispute what you can't see" or in other words its a work of fiction.

I look at the night sky and see the Glory of God and His handiwork. I'm amazed with great wonder at His Creation. This is not something that is not evident to you. What is it that you see? Is it wonder? Does it amaze you in anyway?

As a child I looked at the night sky and say who made it? As I got older I came across a scripture verse that I will share with you. It just confirmed what I already knew as a small child. There is a God!

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalm 19:1

Smarter men as the world defines intelligence then both of us have been on both sides of Christianity and the God subject. They either believe or do not. Each justifying their position any number of ways. You so far have based your lack of belief on is "invisibility". People would be able to show you that not seeing something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, but still you would not believe!

This goes deeper for you, then just invisibility. Since we are being honest here. What is it about God, Jesus Christ His Son that really has you angry, disappointed, or you can just feel in the blank (___________)?

You have come to us here who believe in Jesus Christ who lived, died, and arose again. Something drew you to see what this is all about. Even if it might have been originally in jest, or to have some fun at our expense. I hope you keep one thing in mind. It is exactly for those like you that the Lord gave His life on the Cross for!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:18-20

Hello @TippyToe,

Your name conjures us a picture of a child standing on tip-toe to look over the edge of a table, little hands gripping the edge, nose and eyes straining to look over at the goodies spread out for tea.

In order to believe, you have to begin by believing that God is. That is basic. As you say God is invisible, He is Spirit. However He took human form in the person of His Only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in order to redeem His creation from sin and death. He came as a child and grew to be a man, manifesting His character, His love and grace, and His great power. Then He took upon Himself the penalty for the sin of the whole world, and allowed Himself to be taken captive, tortured and die cruelly, that you and I may receive forgiveness of sin, and receive the gift of His righteousness. He then rose from the grave and ascended into Heaven, opening up the way for us to be resurrected to life, as He was, and receive the gift of eternal life in Him.

The heavens declare the glory of God, they and the whole of creation give witness to their Creator. That is why you should believe in God,

The Son of God, is now at the Father's right hand, One with Him. The Holy Spirit remains upon the earth, giving witness also in the lives of those who believe, to the person and work of Christ, and to the surety of the promises that God has given to us, in His Son.

Faith is not an emotion, it is believing on the promises of God, which are centred on the person and work of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God is a living reality to the believer.

* Faith is just believing that what God says He will surely do.

Praise His Holy Name!

May His perfect will be done in you, TippyToe.

Thank you for speaking to us.
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Actually, if there is a God, which you seem to doubt, He is not my God alone, but the God of everything and everyone, which includes you.
Have you ever personally been to China? If not, why do you believe that it exists? Because some man or men said that it did? Have you ever lied? Have you ever known anyone who has lied?

As to the tests you mention, consider what a philosopher one said/wrote:

"I think, therefore I am". Then someone showed why that was NOT proof of his existence. It is by faith that we follow God. You have faith in many things of men that you cannot completely prove or explain and you would doubt God's existence because you cannot see Him with your very limited eyes of flesh?

The answer is faith.

The sign, which God has given to unbelievers and doubters is the sign of Jonah. You don't understand? Did you see the eclipse this week? Consider it based on your own first hand knowledge rather that what men have said or written.

47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and He says concerning him, “Behold, truly an Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”

48Nathanael says to Him, “From where do You know me?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip calling you, you being under the fig tree, I saw you.”

49Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are King of Israel.”

50Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” 51And He says to him, “Truly, truly, I say to all of you, you will see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man

Why should I believe in your invisible God?

You making an argument for not believing in a Creator and then asking a question about a personal God. I just want you to understand it is two separate issues.

Evidence for a Creator is all around us. Think on that with the brain you and your parents x infinity did not program.

My God does not care if you believe He exists or not James 2:19. You go to hell because your working brain and will loves what is wicked John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. He reveals Himself to those who hate what is evil / draw near to Him James 4:8.

Jesus main power seems to be invisibility, also the Devil and his demons are harming people from an invisible world.

There are a few reasons God may appear to be invisible.

1. Free will. He does not want to 'be in our face'. That would over ride our free will to rebel or obey Him. You need to try understand that. Imagine God standing right next to you. You would not exactly feel free to think and move around as you please.
2. God is humble. He is not boastful. He does not like to show off His power. He would always prefer the lessor miracle that achieves the necessary outcome over the greater. IE Doctors helping you to walk > jumping out a wheel chair.
3. He is God. He does not jump when we say jump.
4. He hates sin. He does not hear the prayers of sinners John 9:31. Unless its a prayer of repentance.
5. He has given us a working brain that can deduce His existence from brain dead observation.
6. He has given us Jesus / laid His life down for us all on the cross. He has given us prophets and inspired writers to pen His word. He does not need to do anything further.
7. Only His people hear His voice John 10:27.
