The shortest and most misunderstood verse in the bible.

Jesus knew Lazarus was going to die. He planned it so he could show the people who he was. He waited until he died to go to him after being summoned. No one told Jesus Lazarus had died. He knew. He told the disciples.
So when Jesus wept,it wasnt because his friend died. He groaned in the spirit and wept because the people didnt believe.

I am looking at what you have posted in this post. And I wondering, because the very words that is coming out of you.
Now my question is.

You talk like that you do not believe That Jesus is a Part of "The TRIUNE GOD" your language describes that you do not believe that JESUS is THE CREATOR OF ALL CREATION. if you believe this , why would make a statement like that in "Post 1". Strange. how say Jesus knew , Does not "GOD" knows everything? Do we have to remind people that GOD KNOWS everything, Do we have to remind people that Jesus Christ DIED on a "TREE"? and are you K Saying "You Know GOD's THOUGHTS"? and why he does things, Who are you that you know What "GOD"S" thoughts are. because that is what you telling us,

your Quote:
. He groaned in the spirit and wept because the people didnt believe
and that is why he wept, because they didn't believe? You mean "GOD" did not know this before he created the WORLD?:eyes:

I Got a better than that one, given to me, by another who I was a member of the same organization as I was a young Minister of a membership of over 300 Pastors in private every week, and This man got up for giving us The message for that day, A old man in his 70's a "Yale" Graduate a black man who had a "Ph'D" in Theology,"Theology Proper", I have never heard a "Theologian", speak, on even heard of one. he started talking about "GOD" with that deep "Stentorian Tone" voice, it made the walls Rumble, not volume it was "TONE" that Bald headed old man, made "GOD" come alive.:eyes:

And a old pastor was sitting beside me, and gave me a nudge, and he said: Now son, that is what you called "A THEOLOGIAN" the real deal. and I said to him; "A Theo WHAT":sob: "That Old Black Theologian" How that man Talked about GOD, and said right there, on that Pew and I prayed "Lord, I want to know GOD you, Like that man" teach me how to know you and talk about you just like that old man" and I think it was that day, he mention that "text portion of Scripture", and he said, that maybe, why "Jesus Wept" was because He was about to do "Lazarus" a great injustice. and awaken him from his peace and bring him back into this world of suffering pain and hunger and he would have to die again! just to prove that He was "GOD' in the flesh to an unbelieving people. so it sorrowed Him to Lazarus back into this terrible world, but it was His Father's Will for Him to do so.

And the way that "Theologian" said those Words, and cocked his head to the side, he took you to eternity. Lord I want to know God like that.

"Dr, Charles Butler" was his name. and those were the men that inspired me to know and to speak and how to present no matter where I went on paper in the square on standing behind The Podium, presenting God like no other man could do, and with out error or imaginations or Speculations only by "Exegesis' and not a oz of "eisegesis" and weeks of weeks of raw studying night and day even studying the text at hand in my dreams!

They do not make them like that anymore more, Many used to come to Detroit, Michigan from all over this country and we would go from "Church to Church" at night clear up to 1-2 O'clock in the morning listening to Theologians talk about GOD in churches, no Church services Men Talking about GOD and sometimes 2 or 3 15 minutes a piece, 'it seems like GOD would Stop time! Lord, you talking Thunder not Volume making loud noises, The walls would Thunder! we all were young minsters during the week church hoping doors open no services Preaching, no programs and introductions, Mount the Podium and take your Text, by memory, and tell the biblical story about GOD mostly through the old testaments, Battles, .Their words came alive and you found yourself on the "battleField". and you stop at the allotted time you are supposed to stop and never went over your time. next one up, you learn how to be an "orator" empower by God. and your life had to be clean, for that Spirit to flow through you. and your audience is going to know it.

it tickles me that people think that they can just speak and quote and write, and the anointed cannot tell that your life style is crocked and evil and unclean, and while you speak, that those who have the gift of discernment cannot tell, the life style you have and the anointing of God is not on you. the Lord the Parakletos is not going to anointed a unclean vessel. you just cannot just print or use God's word and be affective, you must be anointed and live a clean lifestyle, to be use how God wants you to be used in every situation. and every situation is different.

I do not care if a 100 people is standing before, you got to know what GOD is doing as you stand before the hundred. and what The target is.
John 15 BSB

…"You are My friends If You Do What I Command You. 15No longer do I call you servants, for a servant Does Not Understand What his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you. 16You Did Not Choose Me, But I Chose You.

Me thinks you think more highly of yourself than you ought. Printing out 4 pages of bible verses in full caps and 5 different colors is ome thing, but having the arrogance of thinking you are the most spiritual being since Paul is another. You should drop the pious attitude and humble yourself. You are nowhere close to where you like yourself and everyone else to think you are. God bless

No one has told you to look at my threads and post. I am not your God and I am not your master, I am not twisting your arm, I don't care what you do or read!

And you sure is not my master, and how dare you suggest to me what I should I do. who do you think you are? Sound like you are getting warm up. either be "Hot or COLD" "Kemosabe"!

Roman 14 NASB 1977

:sob: Sounds like you warming up! Puffing smoke!!

PS and you mean to tell me that you are not a "AVID" reader and have the Gift of reading, if the world has the talent of "Speed reading" with comprehension .

What does GOD have? in The "Pneumatic", especially as It is release by "the Implosion" espresso by "The Parakletos" in The Biblical Art of Reading The Biblical Text? at hand.

I am a 'warrior" I been on this Battle field for almost 50 years now, and do not mean "Sunday school" or Wed nights, I am the real deal.

Matter of fact you should be enjoying this. The battle is always for the TRUTH and I am not your enemy.:pensive: You just do not know where the fight is and how The battle is to be won.

You stick around, you will grow, but we will not hold your hand you or pat you on the back, but you will study, and you will fall, but get back up! even if your nose bleed! Get back up.

No one here is trying to destroy you, but if you stay, bring it right, people are tried of the dime store cowboy comic books. Theatrics .

If you were you wouldn't feel the need to tell everyone. You bragg too much. You think way too highly of yourself. If you were "the real deal",you wouldnt have too work so hard to convine others of it. You lose your testamony through your arrogant behavior. We are just broken vessels of clay God may use time to time. Other than that,we are nothing special other than in our own mind

American Standard Version Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

NASB 1977 Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.

NASB 1977 2 Corinthians 12:10
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 13:9
In fact, we rejoice when we are weak but you are strong, and our prayer is for your perfection.

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

So stop crying, Kemosabe and bring it on, for I am not your enemy.

NASB 1977
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.

Proverbs 20:30

Lashes and wounds scour evil, and beatings cleanse the inmost parts.

He groaned in the spirit and wept because the people didnt believe.
While the above may very well be true, I rather suspect that Jesus was
overwhelmed with empathy; defined by Webster's as the action of understanding,
being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings,
thoughts, and experience of another.

In a nutshell; Lazarus' sisters were grieved by their brother's passing and Jesus
reacted to their grief by sharing it; like any good Christian would do in similar
circumstances.

Rom 12:15 . . Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Cant argue with you on that brother.
I just point out,Jesus knew the man was going to die. So no need for crying over loss of friend. Plus he knew he was going to bring him out of that cave. So again no reason to mourn. But the people like Mary and Martha, who knew who Jesus is,still didnt believe. Thats i feel is what grieved him in his spirit.

Rom 12:15 . . Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

That requirement can be a bit of a challenge for folks born with autism and/or
defective amygdala.

And then there are others who've made such a long habit of suppressing the tugs at
their heart's strings that they can no longer feel empathy for anyone but
themselves. And also psychopaths who can love animals but for some reason
cannot love people.

However, empathy-challenged people aren't broken beyond repair because
Christianity isn't entirely a do-it-yourself religion; it's also a supernatural religion;
viz; part of the plan of salvation is regeneration.

Rom 8:11 . . If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you,
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through
His spirit, who lives in you.

2Cor 4:16 . .Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being
renewed day by day.

For example: on the morning of Sept 25, 2015 I received word that my No.1
nephew had dropped dead to the floor of unknown causes. He was out on parole
after nearly five years in prison for manslaughter, attending college to learn a new
career, and only 51. He was squared away and should've lived another thirty years.

I was so shattered by the news that I broke down and sobbed like a little girl who'd
just lost her favorite Barbie down the garbage disposal. My heartbreak was due to
loss but not to my loss, rather, it was due to overwhelming feelings of pity for my
nephew's loss.

The thing is: had my No.1 nephew passed away thirty years ago, I would've felt
very little, if any, feelings of pity for his loss. Today; I'm a different man and
become sensitive to those kinds of things. I can only credit Christianity for the
improvement because I have never been to any therapy with shrinks.

So now Webster defines "GOD"! It keeps getting better. And GOD is REACTING "To GRIEF" help me LORD. help me!

I know all readers know this, there are no verses or chapters in The WORD of GOD.:eyes: and you do take that in account when you read the Bible, I am just a reminder, to remind one why they are there, and I going to remind myself again what year the verses and chapters were added. I will guess, so many years ago and I will take a guess: 1500's. now I will go check. I was wrong 1227 was the year.

The actual chapter division took place much earlier. A man named Stephen Langton divided the Bible into chapters in the year A.D. 1227. The Bible he used was the Latin Vulgate. Langton was a professor at the University of Paris at the time. Later, he became the Archbishop of Canterbury.

There Were No Chapter or Verse Divisions in the Original

When the books of the Bible were originally written, there were no such things as chapters or verses. Each book was written without any breaks from the beginning to the end. Consequently, there are a number of important observations that need to be made about the present chapter and verse divisions that we find in Scripture.

2. The Books Have Been Divided into Chapters and Verses for Convenience

The chapter and verse divisions were added to the Bible for the sake of convenience. There is no authoritative basis for the divisions we now find. For the greater part of human history, there have been no chapter or verse divisions in Scripture.

if I can remember when I went to "Reformed Bible College" there was only "KJV", "ASV', "RSV", and The "NIV" English version and The 1st. Paraphrase of "LB" and I still have that original copy of The Living Bible Paraphrase" of the Bible and the Good News Bible And I took a class in college called "Why So Many Versions" and we had to read All 5-6 bibles from from front to the back and study the committees, the persons who did the translations and persons.

1978 and I still have the copies up until 1984 NIV's 1978-1984 and a later one as well.
The New International Version (NIV) is a translation of the Bible in contemporary English. Published by Biblica, the complete NIV was released in 1978 with a minor revision in 1984 and a major revision in 2011.

The Living Bible 1971
1971

The Living Bible (TLB or LB) is a personal paraphrase, not a translation, of the Bible in English by Kenneth N. Taylor and first published in 1971. Taylor used the American Standard Version of 1901 as his base text.
1966
Good News Bible (GNB), also called the Good News Translation (GNT) in the United States, is an English translation of the Bible by the American Bible Society. It was first published as the New Testament under the name Good News for Modern Man in 1966.

PloughBoy

I cannot believe how many English versions there are now, it is mind boggling.:pensive:

PS. And for those who do not know the difference between a "Version" and A "Translation"

What is the difference between translation and version?

Translation is the act of rendering text from one language to another. Version refers to the manner in how those words and concepts are rendered in the second language.

What are the 3 types of Bible translations?

There are three main types of Bible translations: word-for-word, thought-for-thought and paraphrase. A word-for-word translation attempts to translate each Hebrew or Greek word into a corresponding English word.Jan 26, 2011

What version of the Bible is more accurate?
However, some translations, like the New American Standard Bible (NASB) and the New King James Version (NKJV), will give more weight to matching the original language word-for-word. Translations like the New Living Translation (NLT) and the Contemporary English Version (CEV) give more weight to readability.

I will not temp to argue on the most accurate Version, for I am sure there are some here on "Talk Jesus" has did much deep research of years to find one better in this captivity and into this Theological thought and and have found one better by personal reading and comparing with one of ' The Codex"

I always used The ASV for soundness pertaining to A Text of Scripture, but fun of the Reading of 1984 NIV and The 1967 "NSRB" for study, to get the flavor of the text at hand.
