Just had a chat with some JW's, when it transpired that they actually didn't know that Jesus ate, after He rose from the dead.

Luke 24
36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence.

They must've been newbies. Experienced Witnesses would've explained by saying it
was actually Michael the archangel posing as Jesus in a materialized body, i.e. an
avatar.

The Watchtower Society insists that Jesus' crucified dead body is still dead, and its
remains are squirreled away on Earth in a condition and a location known only to
God.

One of their justifications for that belief is given on page 237 of the April 15, 1963
issue of the Watchtower magazine; where it's stated:

"If Jesus were to take his body of flesh, blood, and bones to heaven and enjoy
them there, what would this mean? It would mean that there would be no
resurrection of the dead for anybody. Why not? Because Jesus would be taking his
sacrifice off God's altar.
"

* In order to confirm that Jesus' crucified body is still dead, the Society is going to
have produce it. A piece of evidence of that significance can't be allowed to just slip
through a crack unnoticed as if it makes no difference. As Carl Sagan once said:
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." Till then, we should reckon
that when the Bible speaks of Jesus Christ's resurrection, it's talking about restoring
his corpse to life.

Thank you for the clear explanation, I get so confused with the beliefs of jw's, 7th day and mormons etc.
They did talk about Jesus being michael, but imo, Daniel 10 clearly reveals Jesus as a separate 'figure', Who talks about michael.
We discussed how angels are not to be worshipped (Rev 22:9), but they obviously hold michael as higher rank than gabriel.
So hard to reach. We agreed to differ. If John 1 doesn't convince them (gk and aramaic), then what will?
I used to be rc, and explained, that I could never find The Lord in that 'institution', no matter how hard I tried. (I was fond of the stories of the saints, without realizing Who actually made them saintly!).
We agreed that reading The Bible, is the root of faith. (I came to faith in Jesus by reading a bad version, so there is hope). God bless
