I'm afraid I am not very fond of Jimmy Swaggert.
From his repeated adulteress relationships with prostitutes, to his threat to "kill" any homosexual that looks at him "that way" (In a September of 2004 sermon), he just doesn't seem to represent the Christian idea.

Many years ago,I used to like him,but I'm in agreement with you now.I'm shocked he has been allowed back in the pulpit! I remember watching him crying and begging forgiveness from his family, tv viewers and the church, on tv, and 2 weeks later was caught with the same prostitute again! I thought the Assemblies Of God had revoked his right to preach?

Brother Stephen had a simple request to ask for an audio disc about Jimmy, he did not ask questions that pertain to whether Jimmy is a good man or not, and who are we to say he is not?

Its all a matter of truth. I hear too many people put down others, yet what have they done for Jesus? You need ask yourself that if you do not want to admit so here. I watch Jimmy on tv at least once a week. I see no problem with him other than the obvious, every human is a sinner.
What are you doing for Jesus that credits you to put down Swaggart?
Ok,how about, I don't do things to destroy my witness! I am also very careful to obey scripture admonitions about such people,so I would not consider supporting such a person. As far as my works,the Lord knows them,and I will not boast.

It is not our place to judge others. We too easily fall into the sin of hypocrisy. Jesus makes that very clear indeed in the Sermon on the Mount.
But that does not mean that we do not have to be judicious. The letters written to the early church are full of warnings about false and corrupt leaders and teachers, as the passages that soblessed posted show. We need to be responsible about whose influence we fall under. If we naively follow everybody who sets themselves up as a leader we are likely to end up in serious trouble.
I know very little about Jimmy Swaggart, so I have no opinion to push regarding his ministry. Adultery, hypocrisy and hateful talk are very serious issues, but God's capacity to forgive and restore is greater. God knows his heart, I don't.

soblesssed....your post makes it seem as if you've never messed up. What about when David or Solomon messed up? Did they not receive forgiveness from Christ? Who are we to put people down?
Once again, where is your credit due that you have the right to put others down and make it seem as if they are not capable of receiving grace from GOD? Are you perfect? Have you never messed up in your "witness" to others? As a human, I think you sure have because after all - we're just human.
Please think before you speak because the response your giving here is showing a little bit of pride and lack of acknowledging GOD's grace for others who do mess up. How would you like it if someone pointed out your faults and made it sound as if your not worthy to serve GOD? This is exactly what you've done in your responses here in this thread. You are not, nor is any man one to determine who will or will not continue in his or her ministry to server GOD after falling, stumbling. Only GOD makes those calls and GOD made His call for Mr. Swaggart clearly. He is forgiven and moves on to serve GOD. That is GOD's call, not mine nor yours.

Wow,talk about judgemental! You attack my spiritual walk,and demand that I defend myself for using scripture to warn Christians just to be discerning about supporting a man with his record! Just because you like him and support him,is no excuse for TOTALLY DISREGARDING his past,sounds like compromising to me! I have no more to say about it.

No need to get excited, just answer the question in a humble manner, unlike the way you did. But, people who can't defend themeselves do respond the same way you did, by swaying around a proper answer and accusing the other [myself here] of judging them.

Its very apparent you cannot answer this because you refuse to accept the fact that your wrong. His past is his past, but what about GOD's grace now? Do you argue? Yes.

I remember now why I avoided coming to this site,was because of numerous emails sent by you about some debate/issue you were having with some guy,e-mail after e-mail after e-mail about it,that I came to just delete anything from here!
