Mounty, Please don't take this personally or offensively because your intentions are not in question.

Are we called to be REBELLIOUS anywhere in the Bible? I haven't heard it.

I am personally trying to battle my rebellious nature to be a conformist to the Word of God. The word rebellion doesn't sit well with me even if it's to be rebellious FOR God. Doesn't He want obedience TO Him rather than rebellion for Him?

Just making conversation!

HLY, the quoted article's title is more of an idiom for going against the worldly ways, the secular grain. Its not meant in a rebellious attitude like a misfit or such.

My point is that words have meanings. If one weren't already saved and came into the "Get Saved Now" section of TalkJesus, this person might be misled by the word "rebellion" concerning what being born again is all about.
Rebellion \Re*bel"lion\, n. [F. r['e]bellion, L. rebellion. See Rebel, v. t. Among the Romans rebellion was originally a revolt or open resistance to their government by nations that had been subdued in war. It was a renewed war.]

1. The act of rebelling; open and avowed renunciation of the authority of the government to which one owes obedience, and resistances to its officers and laws, either by levying war, or by aiding others to do so; an organized uprising of subjects for the purpose of coercing or overthrowing their lawful ruler or government by force; revolt; insurrection.
No sooner is the standard of rebellion displayed than men of desperate principles resort to it. --Ames.
2. Open resistances to, or defiance of, lawful authority.

Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)
It seems that rebellion is defined as and related to defying government and Earthly lawful rule. God calls us to obey and pray for our temporal authorities because He put them in their positions. My concerns are for the unsaved and those who might misinterpret the article and be caused to stumble.

Did you only read the title and nothing else? Check out the top list. If you are focasing on something so small, I would question your judgement here. This post may be the very thing someone needs to see, but You are making something out of nothing here.

I call myself a radical Christian anti conformity,

I will rebel if anyone ask me to deny Christ.

I will rebel when society says little Jimmy was born gay and should become a woman

I rebel against Government leaders who say, an unborn child is nothing but a fetus.

I rebel against any and every authority that wants me to say darwin is right God did not create this world in 7 days.

I will rebel against authority who support child slavery, child pornography , child soldiers and child labour, until my voice is heard.

I will rebel against Government laws that tell me, God has no place in school.

I will rebel

I am rebellious to this world and their belief system.....

This generation will suffer more, when parents, church leaders, church members refuse to become rebellious......rebel against laws that encourage abortion and pornography.

I join the rebellion because as number 5 states.
5/ You're looking for tools to empower your purpose

Thank you all for your passionate responses. I totally agree with you Rizen1. It would be an honor to be thrown into a furnace burning 7 times hotter than usual for standing strong in our faith and not bowing to Earthly rulers.

I don't want to bicker over this, especially because I agree with all of you. My sole purpose for even mentioning it was for the non-believer who makes his way to TJ and only glimpses the title of the threads. They may not understand that it is simply an idiom (thank you Chad for expanding my vocabulary:wink:)
