SignUp Now!What makes a Christian a TRUE Christian?
Greetings,
the Love of God
and,
Bless you ....><>
For me sir what makes a Christian a true Christian, is someone who really knows the true meaning of Christ love for us.
It takes an understanding of what God did to us, for us to be able to be a true Christian.
Praying for this site always.
What makes a Christian a TRUE Christian?
Greetings @Jellani
Please do not take this as criticism sister, it is certain not meant that way.
A small typing error but important to note if I may.
It takes an understanding of what God did for us, not to us.
Bless you sister.
Jesus loves you I do too.

Firstly we must be born again to be a Christian, that is as you say a True Christian
But to be a True Christian a lot more is expected of us.
Jesus says 'follow me'
He says take up up cross daily, not just one day a week.
We are to love one another as Christ loves us.
If someone hits the right cheek we are to offer the left also.
We are not to have sex before marriage, or outside marriage and it should only be between man and wife.
We are not to swear and not to get drunk
We are to have no other God, do not kill, do not commit adultery, we are not to covet...
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (NKJV)
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
20 Do not despise prophecies.
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
.We are to.
1 Corinthians 13:1-13(NKJV)
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
We are to Abide in Christ so that He can abide in us.
John 15:1-27 (NKJV)
1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.
25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'
26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
We are as born again believers, True Christians are commissioned to do Christ's work until His Return in Glory when all things are made new.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
Amen we stand in agreement, in Jesus Name AMEN
The word, "Christian" means, "Christ like"What makes a Christian a TRUE Christian?
I think am right in saying that no christian does all this. So, how much of this list does a person have to do to be considered a true christian? This is sounding like a works based religion which I believe it is not.Firstly we must be born again to be a Christian, that is as you say a True Christian

Ok, but this was not my point. There was a lot of rules there that were posted on how we know who is a real christian. My question is how many do you need to do to be considered a real Christian? The bible seems to indicate that belief is all you need to be a christian. It is not work to take up yur cross daily and follow Jesus.
It is not work to pray and rejoice
It is not work to love one another as Christ loves us
It is not work offer the other cheek if someone slaps the first one
No, I am not. You posted a bunch of things that someone must do to be considered a christian. I am just asking a question about that. You seem to be the one with the rules to judge by.You are judging what a Christian should do or not do Vincent
This has nothing to do with the subject of the thread. And no, the devil is not my father.Come to God through Jesus, accept you are a sinner, repent from the heart show Him you are so grateful to be forgiven, be baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, submit to God like a little child does to his daddy. Like your children when they are young accepted everything you said to them. Ask Jesus into your heart and truly mean it from your heart, submit to Him, He wants to help you but it is up to you.
Salvation is a free gift Vincent, do you never think why people find it hard to accept the free gift He offers. If any one else says something is free people queue up, hours before the event, even if they don't want it. But not when it comes to salvation, why? Because it is spiritual, Jesus tells us clearly, if God is not our Father, the devil is.
We accept Jesus and the free gift of Salvation, or we have made the choice to belong to sin, the world and the devil.
You cannot get free from your sins, no one can, they add up every day, only the shedding of the blood of Christ on the cross makes this possible. But you have to open the door of your heart, accept Jesus, accept God's Word is Truth, come to God through Jesus with the faith as a little child.
It is so simple, people spend years trying to fathom it out, many leave it to late.
