Hello everybody,

I stumbled on this website as I was surfing on the web. I'm well pleased to join this amazing forum of believers. I'm a missionary in French Polynesia (South Pacific) along with my wife and I have been living in Tahiti (main island of French Polynesia) for about 25 years now. The myth of Tahiti being "paradise" (postcard reality) is a total illusion that tourism loves to carry on for obvious economic reasons. The everyday reality is totally different. Even though religion is rampant here, it is far from being a place where true believers abound. Unlike Western nations though, there is a much greater receptivity to the Gospel and a definite overall "fear of God" in the local Polynesian mindset.

Complacency and party spirit are also contaminating the Body of Christ ... By and large, Christians are still postured to a very distrustful and exclusive attitude toward believers from other labels. The trend is changing slowly with an understanding that authentic believers can be found in many different denominations and that it is not sin to also congregate with other fellowship groups from time to time.

Our role here in French Polynesia is to awaken the Body to the higher calling of seeing transformation of people, islands and the nation as a whole. We thus have the desire to see genuine and committed believers bring godly influence over various sectors of society such as politics, business, education, families, sports, arts, etc. We long to see the youth of this nation come radically to Jesus and move away from religiosity, useless traditions, brokenness, drugs, alcohol, violence, laziness, low self esteem, lack of vision for the future and so forth.

God bless each and everyone of you and thank you for remembering French Polynesia in your prayers. Just a quick note here to say that French Polynesia is literally located to the uttermost parts of the earth from Jerusalem (Isarael).

Hi @Waldo welcome to the forums brother.

That's an interesting little mention about Tahiti. Who would've thought it's like that? Still wouldn't mind a vacation there someday.

God bless you.

Where's Waldo? Here he is!!!

Sorry, couldn't help myself...

Welcome sir, and blessings to you.

Thank you for your response. You may be able to combine vacations and ministry...
I hope I will be able to find my way around here!

Welcome to Talk Jesus.

Thank you for the very interesting information on Tahiti

Yes indeed, and may the Lord richly bless your work with the youth.

Hello Amadeus,
Sounds like you've been on this forum for ages. You must be an expert here.
Thank you for welcoming me.
No such thing. Rather I'm one of those old dogs who is at least very slow to learn new tricks.
