Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge; For [it is] a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips, So that your trust may be in the LORD; I have instructed you today, even you. Proverbs 22:17-19
An actor commits to feasting on a script. He starts by reading to make sure he understands the story line. He keeps reading because he wants to learn more about his role and what the director expects from him. He reads to learn how he thinks the character will speak the lines. There will come a point when he no longer needs the script because he has explored the story enough that he knows his role and has memorized every word.
You can have that same connection to God's Word. The way you read the Bible might change from reading to discover comfort and on to discovering your place in God's plan. You should get to the place where it's your guidebook on how to respond to others, when to speak, when to be silent, how to pray, when to pray, and how to step up boldly for truth.
Prayer: Lord, my trust should always be a gift to You. May I never withhold trust, because You speak wisdom, offer perspective, and give me purpose. Teach me. I want to know You better.
