And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. Revelation 22:5 ESV
Tonight, we will count down the final seconds of the year and celebrate when the new one begins. Humanity is caught up in a pattern of endings and beginnings.
Have you heard the saying “All good things must come to an end”? Actually, that’s not exactly the case. According to today’s verse, one day all the bad things will come to an end, while the good things will go on forever. (Amen)
As you prepare for a new year, why not let some of the bad things end early? Put away the deeds of darkness. Allow God’s light to shine into every dark area of your heart and cleanse them to be used for Him.
Live out 1 John 1:5-7 this coming year: “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Prayer: Lord, cleanse me, fill my heart with light, and help me guide others to You.
