The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 CSB
Picture a wildebeest. It weighs nearly six hundred pounds, runs almost fifty miles per hour, and has short horns to defend itself. A rampaging wildebeest could do some serious damage to anything in its way, but wildebeests aren’t big on confrontation. Their main survival strategy is to run away at the first sign of danger.
Now picture a lion, Africa’s apex predator. It weighs as much as a wildebeest and can run about the same speed. Lions have no horns, but they eat wildebeests for breakfast. A lion’s main (mane?) survival strategy is to be a lion.
Are you a wildebeest or a lion? Does your guilty conscience have you running from any hint of confrontation, or do you blindly admit your wrongdoing and move on? Do you hide among others who won’t try to correct your actions, or do you live in the knowledge that you have nothing to hide?
God has offered His forgiveness and love while we were still sinning against Him, not so we could live like wildebeests, but so we could accept His forgiveness and boldly proclaim His love to the world.
Today, be a lion. Live righteously. If you mess up, fess up and move on.
Prayer: Lion of Judah, help me live boldly for You. Don’t let me dwell on past mistakes but help me accept Your forgiveness and move on.
