Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting. Psalm 93:2 LSB
June 14th is Flag Day in America, a day when we remember the adoption of the American flag of the United States. Yes, there is a feeling of pride associated with the commemoration, but it also gives Americans a day to think about our beginnings as a nation. There were people who believed enough in the idea of freedom that the flag was adopted less than a year after the founding of America.
Psalm 93 invites you to a different commemoration. Every day is a reason to remember the King of kings. He has always existed, and His kingdom was established, in part, to benefit mankind. Live with the long view of a coming kingdom, even though it can’t be seen with physical eyes or recognized by the average man.
Take heart, knowing that there’s a kingdom where God rules and is making things ready for His people to live there with Him. He has given us His instructions for life—the Bible—to help prepare you to one day take up eternal residence there. Accept the courage to believe, the boldness to act, and strength that comes with an active and vibrant faith.
Prayer: Lord God, I want to commemorate Your goodness today. Remembering Your gifts helps me make that choice. Thank You for Your kingdom and for the home You’re preparing for me to enjoy forever.
