Lost my way

Greetings,

are you familiar with the Lord, your Shepherd, and His wanting you safe with Him, of His willingness to give His all in order for His sheep to be safe?

Bless you ....><>
ps, you realise also that you will have to change your username to something like, 'Foundmyway' or 'Lost_but_found'

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. Where do a person start? How do I find God again. I need guidence .
The place to start,Lostmyway, is on your knees in repentance. The apostle Paul cried out "what a wretched man I am, who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God -- through Jesus Chris our Lord." That is the mindset of one seeking salvation. It is always on God's terms, never ours. I suggest you start again, invite Jesus into your life, admitting that you are a sinner who needs salvation, acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose to sit at the right hand side of the Father in heaven, and ask him to change your life. Then believe that he has done it and start to seek the truth in scripture. That should do the trick.

Practice the spiritual disciplines, with out them I dont see anyone staying close to God.

1. In the word everyday
2. Prayer set at specific times
3. Regular fasting
4. serving others
5. gathering for worship regularly

I need help to find God again. I lost may way and I am struggling to find my way back to God.

Hi Lost,

Great news that you want to come back to our father, brilliant.

You want a sexist laugh? :p Well my wife who's lived in our town for donkeys years struggles to find her way to a new destination that's anything further than the end of our street. I blame the invention of the satnav, it's just so easy, you just put in the postcode and it tells you step by step directions, even which lane to get in. Without it, she couldn't find her way to the shops! lol.

Believe me coming back to God from a long excursion in the wilderness is easy-peasy, you don't even need a satnav. Can I please urge you to read my favourite parable, the prodigal son Luke15:11-32. God never left you, He's been with you all the while, caring for you, looking after you, loving you, protecting you - mainly from yourself. Desperately wanting you back. Unbeknown to you, He's been trying and trying to get you back just like the shepherd in the previous parable Luke 15:3-7. That's why you're where you are now; calling and crying out to Him.

The problem is that you're looking at your problems through binoculars, they look a lot bigger than they actually are. Your inner self (AKA Satan) is telling you that God's just about had it with you. You've gone and done it this time, He's given up on you - you've blown it! That's not what those two parables say is it? No, when God originally called you, He knew you were unreliable, He even knew all about how you'd go off on one and turn your back on Him. And yet, even before creation He chose you and called you. He wants you and wants you bad, so bad He thought that the sacrifice He had to pay to get you (the death of His son) was an absolute bargain! God absolutely loves you with a perfect love, He wants to be back there as the focus of your life.

That ball's in your court. You need to repent of your snub, ask for forgiveness and rededicate your life to Him. That takes faith, faith to ignore your inner self and start reliving your life dedicated to your God. Start with lots of praise ... 'Dear Lord God, I love you because .... ' and, 'Dear Lord God, thank you for .... ' Start a conversation, chat to God, tell Him how you're feeling, your problems, issues that trouble you. Talk to Him like He's your best friend - because He is. Then you need to spend quality time, praying and reading your Bible.

I love an app called YouVersion. It's a downloadable Bible but more. The default is the King James Version but if you can download any of dozens of other versions. I like NIV and NKJV best. It also has a verse of the day and loads of Bible reading plans. Almost as important try and get yourself into a really good church where you'll meet lots of like minded. I appreciate it might be difficult in lockdown but worth doing some groundwork looking at websites.

God bless you bro / sis and welcome back, I'm really pleased for you

Hi Andy,

Thank you for the reply. What you wrote make me rethink all that happened to me during the past 15 years.

Yes 15 years I am a lost lamb. I try over and over to find my way back to God. I prayed, I cried, and then a few years back I lost my grandma, my rock and my life. I haven't grieved yet, she were taken so quickly from me.

Then after I read your message I remember her last words. She said to me when she lost her way and nothing else made sense she open the Bible to Psalm 121.

Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm, He will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Tonight. I cry and I commit myself to God after I read the Psalm. I know I have to let go of some people in my life and I know I need to let go of my past.

Atta bro / sis. That's the Spirit! Let today be the start of Act 2 scene 2 in your life, titled Restoration, Onwards and Upwards. I'm no farmer but I'm led to believe by some that are more agricultural than me, that the secret of straight furrows when ploughing is to look straight ahead. Did they get that from agricultural college or the Bible? Luke 9:62. Keep your focus on Jesus, don't be distracted by anyone or anything. He's your imperative, the reason you get out of bed. Just keep chatting, praise, love and adoration and read that Bible. You'll inevitably feel closer and closer to God; your faith will motor!! Pray that the Holy Spirit will be your guide and inspiration.

God bless you

Welcome aboard, friend! Nice to meet you.

You’ve already got some good advice here. Yes, it’s important to grow closer to the Lord. I’d suggest that you strengthen your walk with Him by reading the Word daily and praying regularly. Also, find a Church or a Bible study group in your area. May God draw you closer to Himself and help you to grow strong in Him in the days ahead. Have a blessed stay!

Greetings @Lostmyway

Welcome to Talk Jesus, it is something we love to do, because Jesus is our Lord, our Saviour, he gives us examples how to live, how to love, how to spend our time, how to pray, how to rejoice, how to give thanks, how to be forgiven, how to be like him, where do you start coming back to God? Through Jesus Christ who wants to be your Lord and Saviour, Through Jesus Christ who wants to intercede your prayers to our Father in heaven, through Jesus Christ who has been waiting for the prodigal to return.

There is some excellent advice above, follow what Trevor has said, start again, come to Jesus as you are, weary, worn and sad, find in Him a resting place and he will make you glad. Find a Jesus filled place of worship, you need fellowship, you need prayer, it is no coincidence you came here, we will help you, it is Godincidence you are here, welcome to the fold my friend. Every message above are from your loving brothers and sisters in Christ, every message is from our hearts.

Rejoice and be Glad 'lostmyway' or was it 'prodigal_returns' either way it doesn't matter, come to the Lord in prayer, repent, accept Jesus, spend time in The Word.

Jesus loves you we do too.

Shalom

Greetings Andy

I smiled at your words of encouragement for our dear friend.

'Let today be the start of Act 2 scene 2' in Lostmyway life.

Acts 2:2 (NKJV)
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

The Holy Spirit is with us, the helper, the counsellor, who came as Jesus said he would, at Pentecost.
He is with us now, setting lost souls free, and carrying out the will of God in the world.

Praise the Lord to God be the Glory

Welcome to our forums, glad you're here and hope it blesses you on the right path.

really lovely helpfull blessed word Andy God bless Always

I need help to find God again. I lost may way and I am struggling to find my way back to God.
Look in the mirror. :)
If you were a Christian at one time, you are still in Christ. We may leave the path but God never leaves us. He knows your heart and, like the story of the Prodigal son, the father in that parable always wanted his wayward son to return home. And when he did the father celebrated and welcomed him with open arms.
Just as when a sinner repents and turns to God all in Heaven rejoice, so too do they when one who has left the path realizes their error and returns home.
Repent, tell all that you feel you need to release, the baggage you've carried since your fall from the faith, to God. This isn't so that God knows of it. Because God is Omniscient, all knowing, and is aware already. Rather, it is for your sake that you face where you've been and that in turn will lead you to further understanding of why you're now , like the Prodigal, wishing to return home again.

(HUGS) Welcome home! God has always loved you because he knew you before the womb. God's blessings shower themselves upon you. Amen.
