I've been dating for a long time. Dated too many in the hopes that I'd meet the right guy. After all, people always say that love is a numbers game. So after another disaster in that department, I finally had enough. I spent this afternoon praying for some sort of answer. I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. A few years ago, I've read Joshua Harris' book called I Kiss Dating Goodbye and though I may understood his point, it took me 8 long years of crying to finally realize the essence of Christian dating. And here's what I realized tonight:
A woman's love is the most precious gift in the world. It is empowering, nurturing, uplifting and forgiving. It can move mountains and save lives. Nothing is more fulfilling, more miraculous than the love of a woman. That being said, it a man's obligation not to play games with it. On the flip side, it is a woman's obligation to guard her heart because it contains the purest of God's love. It contains God's everlasting peace.
But for the last 8 years, I've stupidly allowed Satan to sneak into my heart and here's what Joshua Harris said --- that Satan comes in many shapes, sizes and emotions. Yes, Satan comes in the form of restlessness. The restlessness of being single. No wonder I cried and despaired so much in the past. I allowed Satan to take control of what should have God's domain. And God's kingdom is filled with peace. God is peace. And whenever I felt restlessness, it was just Satan striking up again and wreaking havoc with God's plan for me.
I was actually watching a rom-com when this enlightenment hit me. It's ironic that it took me 8 years to figure it out and I had to figure it all out while watching another cheesy rom-com LOL but I'm glad I finally did. I cried and prayed for some kind of answer this afternoon and I got it tonight.
Love is not a game, my sisters and brothers.
