Today I traveled approximately 80 miles at speeds ranging between 60 and 70miles per hour shuttling my 3 children and 2 of their school friends from place to place (speed limit was 65). I got within a mile of my home, just turning onto my little rural road, when my front driver side wheel broke off my car! OFF!! :omg: I was travelling approximately 7 to 10 mph when we went raking across the pavement.

When the car came to a stop, the only thing I could think is "Thank you, Jesus, for your mercy". If it had happened out on the highway, I shudder to think what would have become of me, my 5 passengers and possibly other motorists.

Yes, I praise Him.
Amen!

Oh wow! that's increadable. I could only imagine how scary that would be.
I'm really glad that you are safe and sound now.
Jesus is really watching over you! out of LOVE!

:omg: Wow, that's incredible. Praise God for His protection over you and children. A great testimony!

I just noticed are we meant to choose love or luck?
Well anyhow this is LOVE, God's love for us, and when amazing things like this happen we can use the situation, tell the story to people and give All Glory to God.

That's exactly why I posed the question, Luck or Love?, Calluna. So people will think about incidents like these in terms of faith versus luck. Everyone I've talked to in my community about this incident has responded by saying, "wow, you're lucky....". :omg: It's rather upsetting to hear. Their first instinct is to believe in random coincidence over faith in God's ability to intervene.

Why does surviving the worst case scenario have to be the standard by which the message of God's love, mercy and plan for us is recognized? Why does it take some devastating event to happen in a person's life before they realize there is purpose in the everyday small things? Yes, there are people who survive horrendous accidents and live to testify of God's involvement, but He is present and working in the small things, too. I wish people would see that.

All six of us have work to do, otherwise, we wouldn't all still be here. It doesn't take a traumatic, crippling accident for me to know it.

I pray the message I'm trying to convey is comprehensible. I'm not very good at getting my thoughts across, but God is. Those who have ears, let him hear.

Amen!

Your question is a good one and the message is comprehensible. I believe this could be an interesting thread, if we had more opposition with unbelievers here at TJ, but there aren't many.

I personally don't believe in good or bad luck, or coincidences, I believe these events are ordained by God.

What do people say if someones cancer tumor has shrunk down in size.
'Oh how lucky for you!' no that just doesn't fly, they often acknowledge it as a miracle from God. What people fail to see is that the same God that heals the cancer tumor is the same God that heals a small cut on a finger.

Amen, I pray people can see it too, God is present and working in the small things, from getting a job, to overcoming the chickenpox, to a small cut being healed.

The guardian angels were around you. Praise God for His perfect timing and He is love and i believe we have God incidences and when someone says you are lucky i usually reply I am blessed.

Praise GOD in Christ Jesus, I'm glad your safe

He also protected me two weeks ago from a major accident where my car was completely totalled, but I had not a scratch on me (aside seatbelt burn mark on my neck)
