You need to read the Bible. When we feel far away from God it is us who have moved. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Heb.10.
22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Matt.6.33.
He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Prov.18.24
When God seems far away- call Psalm 139
I find it very helpful to listen to praise and worship music to lift the spirit too.
Father I pray that you would surround 4given with Your love and Your peace the peace that passes all understanding. Help him to draw close to You. You tell us we will find you when we seek You. Help him to find his first love. Speak to him when he reads the Bible which is living and active. In Jesus' name I pray amen.

I too have felt as if God is distant from me, but in reality, it is I who is distant from God. Read the Word, meditate on it. After all, God is speaking to us through the Bible.
