My First, My Last
By: Chalice Grail A. Avarientos

Read Psalm 37:3-7

Many women desire for their first boyfriend to eventually become their husband, which some people find totally unlikely. In my case, me desire to end up in a lifetime commitment with my first love was born out of the desire to have a different lot from my parents. Because my father had his own family, he and my mother never married, and I grew up in a broken home.

So I started praying for "God's best" when I was thirteen. Young as I was then, my mentor had advise me to start praying for a lifetime partner. At the same time, I began praying for one of the members of our youth group, a young man whom I found attractive, talented and God-fearing.

Since that time, whenever I prayed, I reminded God about my request - but not without asking Him to make and mold me first to be a woman after His heart. Yet I openly bought to God my desire to have someone who would be best for me: a man after His own heart. I entrusted that request to God and asked if I may have that particular young man to be my first boyfriend and lifetime partner. Still, I was open to whatever His will was for my life.

Christian friends shared the joy of my waiting, while others thought it was just wishful thinking. But God grew my trust in Him when He assured me of His promise in Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Instead of pushing God to unfold His plans right away, I gave myself fully to Him, serving faithfully at our church as an officer of the youth ministry, teaching Sunday school and community classes, and joining church concerts and stage plays.

After serving God and praying for four long years, to my surprise, the man I was praying for began courting me and even desired to marry me. I couldn't believe how God works.

God's love for His children just cannot be measured. After nine wonderful years of relationship, I faced the altar with my first - and last - boyfriend.

I just want to share this beautiful testimony from one of my devotional book.
Young Women on the Journey

Truehearts,

This is similiar to my best friend's story. She met her husband in church and he was her first and last boyfriend. They married a year to the date that they met and have been now married for almost 12 years and have a beautiful baby girl. It truely is a wonderful blessing from God.

Thank you for sharing this story with us it was wonderful!

Very Cool Truehearts!! Hebrews 11:6!! For the person who comes to God must believe that HE IS!! which you do!! therefore because you do!!! He IS!! a REWARDER of those who seek him!! amen! Praise God!

You sure fulfilled this scripture:
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Very inspiring story Truehearts, thank you for sharing your joy filled testimony.

I am grateful you are all blessed. I do pray for something like that. If it's God's will for my life. <3
