For I know [that] my redeemer liveth, and [that] he shall stand at the latter [day] upon the earth: And [though] after my skin [worms] destroy this [body], yet in my flesh shall I see God: Job 19:25-26 KJV

Job’s three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, did far more damage than good by repeatedly insisting that his great losses were due to sin. Imagine sitting around with a small group of close friends after losing your family only to have them make such accusations. It would be enough to cause a person to lose hope—that is, unless his hope is in a great Redeemer, like Job’s was.

What you believe deep down in your heart is revealed during the most tumultuous times of your life. What have difficult times revealed about your faith? Have you clung to Jesus Christ, believing that He has conquered sin and death? Do your hardships cause you to long for the day when you will see God? Or have your experiences rattled your faith, causing you to doubt God and doubt eternity?

Job didn’t have the benefit of knowing Jesus Christ personally. He knew only that God was inherently a redeemer. You, however, have a personal relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords. Trust Him anew today.

Prayer: Lord, at times the burdens of this world feel too heavy to carry. But You have promised to give me rest both now and in eternity. Thank You!

Thank you for this.

If you read what Job's friends' advise, there's a lot of truth in there and some wisdom. We tend to read it dismissively pooh poohing what they say as discredited wisdom, but what they tell Job, their advice and their wisdom resonates with me. Why? Because I'm not Job. Their advice was good advice, just given to the wrong person. Job was able to say in all sincerity-
How many wrongs and sins have I committed? Show me my offense and my sin. Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?
Job 13:23‭-‬24 NIV

If your holiness and Godliness is short of Job's look for some wise words from his friends.

To anyone wanting to be a rich celebrity in the mould of Keisha, Zopha would say this -
that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment. Though the pride of the godless person reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds, he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’ Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night. The eye that saw him will not see him again; his place will look on him no more. Job 20:5‭-‬9 NIV
Who's Keisha? 10 years ago, she was A list pop artist with songs like, 'Gonna get this party started', now a just distant memory.

An interesting comparison to Job is Jonah, so next time you're going through a rough patch, ask, is this a test of my faith or a battle of wills with God.

Thank you Christ4ever
