Nervous Wreck About Speaking

Hello, this is Dreamer here:embarasse I love to write, but I'm nervous when I have to speak in public.

This evening at prayer meetin at church, the Lord told me to give a testimony of what He is doing since my husband and I started our church-wide, 21 day fast. I called the person preaching and he wants me to get up and speak first before he preaches. He wants me to encourage the people to keep fasting, because God is moving.

I'm shy and I get nervous in front of people; my knees shake, my hands shake, I sweat and turn all red. But I know God wants me to do this.

God gave me a scripture today to keep in my heart: It's "Open your mouth, and I will fill it," Psalms 81:10b

I'll come back and post how it went later, after Prayer Meeting. If......I'm still alive.

Please pray for me now if you're reading this at 3:30 p.m. standard Eastern time on Jan. 10!

Hello Dreamer,

If you communicate in speech in the same manner in which you communicate with the pen, you will have nothing to fear. Remember the bible guidelines are edification, exhortation and comfort. Keep to these and folks will be blessed.

Be blessed and be a Blessing.

Lol, I had a great time! I wrote down notes ahead of time with 8 or 9 points that I wanted to make. I thought of a couple of things that were humorous about the points and used the humor to cause people to laugh. It relaxed them and relaxed me. Stephen, you really helped me by what you said, because the main thing the pastor wanted me to do was encourage people.

I hope they ask me to speak again. I can't believe this, but I actually enjoyed the experience. I only looked down at my notes long enough to stay within the boundaries I'd planned. I looked around and made eye contact with people and was expressive, like I am with my husband, daughter, good friends, etc. ( I talk with my hands alot, make a lot of expressions on my face, and move my arms alot when I'm excited.)

Congratulations! No doubt, God made it all possible. It's wonderful how He works in our lives.

You're right! It is God who works in us. It wasn't me speaking, it was God, because I'm shy and don't like public speaking.

i know what you mean

i always get nervous when i speak i know the lord is there helpeing me say what he wants me to say. i will be praying for you thoams 41

Don't be afraid...

Jesus says don't be afraid of how to speak and what to speak it will be the Holy Spirit who will speak through you. I am in Poland and the language is so difficult being from India and working here with this language guiding retreats individual and group I know that it is not I who speak but the Holy Spirit. So I speak in Jesus, through Jesus and with Jesus....

To Dreamer and friends...

Hallo Dreamer,
you wrote.... God gave me a scripture today to keep in my heart: It's "Open your mouth, and I will fill it," Psalms 81:10b
As you know, God is so good and absolutely wonderful. May I point you to the New Testament where several times it is stated that Jesus...bless His Name!...opened His mouth....and spake. Reason would ask...why not just say, Jesus said? There is great significance in the fact that He opened His mouth, and the Word He gave you proves it. Jesus Christ is the fulfilling of prophecy, the outworking of the Word of God, as you know, He is the Word, made flesh, and He dwelt amongst us...to the glory of God.
Another point, on those scriptures, is the words...He lifted His eyes to Heaven.

May you all be encouraged as you seek the LORD and find Him there .

I personally was helped with the comfort of His word, just as you were/are Dreamer and may I share with you a bit more?

Some words that come to mind are confidence, courage, boldness, trust and faith. All words describing the believers in the New Testament, and applicable to us ...if we believe... because it/they are aspects of our Lord, who fills us. He is our life. He is our strength. He is our Hope. Us in Him and Him in us. We are his workmanship, He is the authour and finisher of our faith. And we also see in the Psalms how the feeble cries for help turn to praise and proclamation of the power and working of God, a testimony to HIS faithfulness. May I encourage you all to always trust in His faithfulness and recall that His name is Faithful and True [Revelation 19:11 , 21:5 , 22:6]

May you all be strengthened in His Word, Amen.

Bless you.

Yes !

John 3:16...

For God SO LOVED the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

AMEN

Guess what? It turns out I'm possibly going to be doing more public speaking in the future. Funny thing is, I've always been shy. I'm 46 years old, and never have enjoyed getting up in front of people and speaking. Through the years, I've found all sorts of fun ways to communicate if I absolutely have to get in front of people: using a puppet to talk, or just singing a song so I don't have to speak.

The ministry group I belong to is planning to become a non-profit organization and start up a halfway house for female jail inmates after they are freed.

Several people nominated me for secretary at the meeting tonight. Blah! Boring.

I'm on the fund raising committee and I'm going to speak at churches about donating to this new ministry.

If you knew me and lived here and saw how I am....you probably wouldn't believe it. Sixteen years ago, before I came to Christ, I was so downhearted and low on myself that I rarely made eye contact with anyone. I thought of suicide on a weekly basis. I was nervous just walking out to the end of the driveway to get the bills out of the mailbox!

And now....I'm to stand in front of congregations and carry the message that Jesus saves and Jesus redeems. Only Jesus. Drug addiction and crime are nothing to Jesus. His power overcomes and gives victory. His power frees the bound man or woman. Only Jesus.

I guess this thread should end here....since the original prayer request I put in the beginning....is already being answered by Him. See? See how good God is?

Congratulations Dreamer and more importantly may God be Glorified with our lives...speaking or silent. I'm always encouraged by God's choice of people when he wants a message to be spoken....like Moses who had a speech impediment yet God used in a mighty and powerful way. Remember God is looking for a servant not an expert.

"God does not call the qualified....He qualifies the the called!"

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

well God doesnt allow us to be tempted or tested beyond what we can cope with and a testimony follows a test which is out of the comfort zone.

Trsut in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

It seems God is directing you to do this so accept it even though it is uncomfortable and who knows? you may grow in confidence in time about it

God bless from biggie

Congratulations Dear dreamer
I am so much encouraged by your testimony,
I too have the same problem, i don't like speaking in public.
so great to see you making it, just like Ester
Esther 4:14
who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

May God bless you as you commit your self for his service.
