This poem was written May 24, 2013. I was on FB and friends were posting things about Memorial Day here in the USA. I got out paper and pen (that's how I do most of my writing) and wrote this poem.
Clothed in red, white, and blue
They march
Through unknown lands
Guns ready
Some see their buddies fall
Carry them to safety
Some kneel in respect
Mourning the loss
Clothed in red, white, and blue
They march
Carrying a coffin
Through the silent land
Some with tears flowing down
Weeping ensues
Loved ones mourn
Here lays a hero
Clothed in red, white, and blue
Never forget.
Never forget.
Never forget.
May we never forget the sacrifices.
Clothed in red, white, and blue
They march
Through unknown lands
Guns ready
Some see their buddies fall
Carry them to safety
Some kneel in respect
Mourning the loss
Clothed in red, white, and blue
They march
Carrying a coffin
Through the silent land
Some with tears flowing down
Weeping ensues
Loved ones mourn
Here lays a hero
Clothed in red, white, and blue
Never forget.
Never forget.
Never forget.
May we never forget the sacrifices.
