"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14
Not everyone goes to heaven. Then again, don’t assume that someone who has died—and who knowingly rejected the Good News for years—went to hell. Never say such words. Only God knows that.
Instead, pray for God to reveal whether that person trusted Jesus Christ before the very end. Then, trust that your loved one is in the hands of a just and merciful God.
One man rejected the Gospel his whole life. His father had been a circuit preacher, but he wanted nothing to do with God or church (though he still could quote Psalm 23). On his deathbed, the man read a final letter (plea) from a step-granddaughter, Reness, and trusted Jesus Christ two days before his passing.
The other step-grandfather even more adamantly rejected Christ his whole life. When he died, Renee and her husband told their children what’s stated above. A few days later a step-grandson (whom Reness hadn’t met before) said he too was a Christian and had led Grandpa to Christ the day before he died.
How very good that, no matter what, the Lord never gives up.
Prayer: Lord, transform me. It’s hard to imagine certain people ever coming to faith. Thank You that You never give up on them. Help me to prayerfully do the same.
