New Christian struggling with depression, etc,

Hello,

I had some substantially unique circumstances that led to most of the roots of my depression being hidden behind dissociative barriers, and so the only thing that worked for me was to actually ask God what scriptures to read. Often led to some interesting places!

You can search all you want on verses that might make you feel better but it's a long hard process to do it on your own without prophetic help.

Anyone struggling with depression? Any bible verses that would be helpful?

Hi Marie

Acts 16:16-34, especially verse 25. The secret is praising God all the time. You might think there's not much material to go off; that's the depression telling you that.

Step outside of the depression and you'll find plenty. -

His total love for you.
He couldn't bear losing you and so He sent Jesus to die an excruciating death to rescue you.
His resurrection.
His calling and your acceptance.
His Holy Spirit.
His provision.
His guidance.
Your name in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Your family friends and church .... and the list goes on and on ......

Chat to God like He's your best buddy because He is. Tell Him about your day, your likes and dislikes, your fears and worries - just chat.

God bless you dear sweet sister. Hope you have a lovely day ahead full of His blessings.

Lots of love,

I read the Psalms. Sometimes, I can relate to the Psalmist in some of them.

Psalm 42:1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
8 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Then there is music which I read when king Saul was in a foul mood, David would sing to him to lift his spirit.

Although Jesus is in you & me so that we never have to thirst or hunger after Him any more, sometimes the storms of our lives has a way of taking our eyes off of Him, but you & I have this hope in Him to lift up our heads to look to Him when we need Him to because that is what we are hoping in Him & trusting in Him to do as our Good Shepherd & Friend in helping us to follow Him & to have His peace.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

That's so helpful. Thank you so much for this!
