"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:17-18 NKJV
It’s probably safe to say that every Christian man has had those moments of self-condemnation, moments when he feels convinced that God still holds his sins against him and is ready to “drop the hammer” and consign him to an eternity in hell.
If only the one who is in Christ but condemns himself would read and believe what the Bible says about God’s love and how He poured out that love on humanity by sending His Son to die for our sins, then that self-condemnation would fly away. The apostle Paul put it perfectly when he wrote, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
You may find yourself suffering under sometimes intense self-condemnation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. When you feel afraid or unsure about your eternal destination, open your Bible and read what it says about you and where you are headed.
When you do that, rejoicing will replace your fear.
Prayer: Loving heavenly Father, thank You for the blessed assurance that since I belong to You, I never need to fear condemnation or eternal punishment for past sins.
