Hello all. I am new to this forum ands would like to ask if anyone can explain something which I am having difficulty understanding please.

I asked a few Christians why they don't observe Sabbath and was told the same thing by all of them. Christ paid for our sins which was nailed to the cross so we don't have to observe the Sabbath. Can anyone elaborate on this for me please? Thanks.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead early on the 1st day of the week -- each of the 4 Gospels tell us that. As a result -- Lots of people worship on Sunday -- the Lords' Day. In honor Of His bodily resurrection.
there are those who still observe the Sabboth Day of worship. As long as a person takes time out during the week to worship God and' it isn't done in the spirit of being a good work for our salvation' it doesn't matter. There Are those who feel they still need to follow the Ten Commandments.

@mystics -- Jesus Christ was literally 'nailed' to the cross. Large spikes were pounded through His hands and His feet.

Jesus Christ died With our sins upon Himself. Just like His hands and feet were 'nailed' securely to the cross so He couldn't get down. that's why Jesus Christ died on the cross. to take our sins with Him. A 'sin' is an action / word / thought that isn't Godly. A person can See an action / hear words but We can't see anyone's thoughts. Only God can. But He took all of these parts of our lives 'onto' Himself and literally died with them and went to hell For us. He shed His blood For us. Very literally. When a person accepts Jesus Christ as our personal Savior -- Then God 'sees' us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Justification -- just as though I'd never sinned. 'we' are now right with God -- justification. We can Now have relationship with God -- made possible Through the blood of Jesus Christ. Because He died on that cross, was buried and rose again bodily.

Hope that helps.

Greetings,

some [or most] consider the keeping the Sabbath was 'done away with' as part of Jesus dying for the sins of the world. It is a popular teaching and usually those who oppose it find themselves to be the odd ones out.

Regarding the 'nailed to the cross' part that you ask about:

read Colossians Chapter 2

1For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. 5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. 20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22Which all are to perish with the using after the commandments and doctrines of men?

23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

and now, perhaps read all of the letter to the Colossians to get a fuller picture.

Bless you ....><>

Thanks guys. The main problem I am having I think is the Jesus paid for our sins part. We are still accountable for our sins and will need to pay for them, not so?

Also, I see the 10 commandments as a code of conduct of how I should live my life so why would it be wrong to observe it [and Sabbath]?

@mystic -- If we were to pay for our own sins -- we'd be dying and going to hell for eternity.

Because Romans tells us that Everyone ever born is a sinner. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And 'the wages of sin is death......'

The rest of that verse says "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

I Have known a few people who Are determined To pay for their own sins. They don't want someone to suffer for Their sake. They refuse the salvation that is offered to us By God.

If you Really feel compelled to suffer for your own sins, then take a look at what God's Word says About the future lake of fire and brimstone. People who die without Christ are in a place called Hades / Hell. The misery that satan, the beast and the false prophet will be thrown into in the future Isn't anything that 'we' want to end up in. The lake of fire and brimstone lasts forever. Nothing goes out and nothing dies like we Here experience fire.

The Ten Commandments were given to us so that we could see what sinfulness is. And it's Also true that if a person is guilty of committing One of them, they are guilty of All of them. The Ten Commandments were given as a tutor -- to show us our need For a Savior. Because If a person Could keep all of them all the time, there would be no need For the cross. But Ephesians 2: 8 - 9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that , not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. NOT OF WORKS, let anyone should boast."

Nothing Is 'wrong' with observing the Sabbath. It's simply been replaced / fulfilled by the cross / Jesus Christ rose from the dead bodily on the 1st day of the week -- so 'we' choose to Honor His day / the Lord's Day rather than the Sabboth.

Oh, one last last question on this topic please, what do you guys think happens when we sin?

Well -- sin is something we do that does not bring glory to God. So -- we are not bringing glory to God when we Do 'whatever'. And then it's a good idea to acknowledge that and ask for forgiveness. And He will forgive us. God also knows our hearts and how sincere 'we' Are. So - how do we know we're Really forgiven -- we will have peace in our hearts.

Sorry confused, so you guys don't believe that God will punish us for our sins in any way so no bad things will happen to us when we sin?

Even more confusing for me, sorry. Does that mean God will NOT rebuke and discipline if we repent?

Simply put...To live is Christ.

So, we have been (our sins) "nailed to the cross" with Him, in Him, by Him, for Him. God sees our sin no more for we have been washed by the blood of the Lamb of God; we have been made brand new; our sins has been blotted out and God remembers them no more.

Father stays focused on the son and is reminded of mercy and grace, Love, patience, kindness, perserverance, longsuffering...

I am in Him, and He is in me; so is there sin in the Son of God? God forbid...and not according to the Word. There was no sin found in Him.

We are not seperate, we have been made one in Him, with Him, by Him, for Him.

All praise, glory, and honor be unto God. Amen

It Does mean that God has standards for Believers -- He shows us grace / mercy but Also will discipline us as He sees fit and necessary.

Just like people / families with children. We love them, but also , at times, those kids of ours need correction. Some more than others and some 'stricter' discipline.

sometimes it takes a real problem in our lives to Bring us to repentence. We do things that we find out are displeasing to God -- continue doing them and then God gets after us. His discipline is in accordance with what we've done and our attitude regarding it.

And some kids are constantly testing their parents -- do you Still mean it even Now. They are waiting to see if we'll give in or not. God sticks to His 'guns' and we need to do the same. Difference being that God's 'guns' are always righteous. Ours isn't always.

Right, what I figured, we will be disciplined [what I term "pay"] for our sins. Thanks.

Okay -- because of the cross -- God sees us through the blood of Christ -- justified -- just as if I'd never sinned.

But Your next comment that God stays focused on the Son? Not especially -- He Has put Christ in an honored position. Seated on His right hand. But no one has to remind God the Father of Anything.

Or are you referring to 'the son' as born-again believers -- in That sense 'we' become the sons and daughters of God Through Jesus Christ. I'm a daughter of God -- He is my heavenly Father.

But believers don't become as the Son of God. As human beings, we still have our earthly bodies. 'we' don't receive glorified bodies until we are with Jesus Christ / or we die. But we still aren't 'as' the Son of God. No one Becomes deity.

You are talking about two different concepts. We become 'one' in Him through salvation. But we don't become part of deity.

Staying conformed to this world is not walking in the righteousness of Him. Only in Him we have been made perfect. Now, if thou wilt be perfect go and sale all that you have and give alms to the poor.
A soldier of God is not to be entangled with this world. We can not serve God and mammon, we will love the one and hate the other. We have money to go get for ourselves, who needs God.

Well, I do; and love the riches of His world, a spiritual world, and He gives me the vision to see all things as He needs me to see them. Of myself I can do nothing, but with God, all things are possible.

If one can walk away from their life in this world, one is given the richness of His world, nothing lacking.

All praise, glory, and honor be unto God. Amen

Believers are left In this world to share Christ with those we come into contact With.

The Love of money is the problem. Not the money itself.

This is the world we're born into . We do the best we can with what God provides us with. We're In this world but are not to become Like this world. But as long as we Are in This world -- we need to be sharing the Gospel unto salvation with those we come into contact with,
