question 3 i copy n pasted below brings questions and i have exausted my study resources to find out. king david bought this for 50 sheckels in in 2sam. however read in 1chronicles 21. same story, but guys got a different name(which i looked up in strongs and one name refers to the other) but for 600 sheckels in 1chron21. my study material says one book refers to david purchasing only some of the stuff for 50 but purchasing more for 600 in the other book. so i guess my question is does anyone know why the difference for names(my thoery is different language) and as far as cost goes idk. and please list you study refrence as to where you aquired the info. im very interested in this.


note: if reading about the threshing floor from 1chron continue reading into 2chron about it. pay attention to 2chron3:1 and to 2chron7:12 also check out Gen22 which is talking about when God tested abraham to sacrifice issac. pay attention to locations. if you study it even deeper you can find later, not to far from this location is where Jesus was crucified.

Grant jefferies has a cool book called the signature of God. It tells about the bible code in reference to Isaiah Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The Number 50

The number 50 in the Bible is connected to the "Holy Spirit". The Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost, which was fifty days after the resurrection of Christ. Through out the whole Bible you can cross reference the number fifty to the Holy Spirit. For example the in the Old Testament there were Fifty taches of gold connected with the linen curtains. There were Ten linen curtains, fastened together, five in one group, and five in another group. These two groups of Five each were coupled together with Fifty taches. (Exodus 26: 1-6) The taches came over the veil. (Exodus 26:33) Which represent the crucifixation of Christ. (Hebrews 10:19-20) This connects the Holy Spirit with the work of the Cross, and with the Grace of God, represented with the number five.
Numbers of the Bible have fascinated me ever since I started going to church and reading the Bible. But we must be careful that we don't discern or interupt every number as a special meaning in the Bible. I feel God has a way of reveiling his word by numbers as long as we pray and are lead of the Spirit to do so.

Hmm...quite an interesting subject.
I just did some quick checking...
2 Samuel 24:24b "...So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver." (NASB)
1 Chronicles 21:25 "So David gave Ornan 600 shekels of gold by weight for the site." (NASB)

The first verse in 2 Samuel 24 says David bout the threshing floor and oxen for 50 shekels of silver. The other verse says David bought the whole site for 600 shekels of gold.
So, I would say your study material is correct on this.

As for the other question, regarding the difference in name...

In the KJV the man's name is different. It is listed as Araunah in 2 Samuel 24, and is called Ornan in 1 Chronicles 21.
Same thing in the NASB and Interlinear Bible.
However, in the NIV, both Scripture references refer to the man as Araunah.

In looking at Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, #728 it says

Araunah Or (by transposition) rowrnah {ore-naw'}; or farniyah {ar-nee-yaw'}; all by orthographical variation for 'Ornan; Aravnah (or Arnijah or Ornah), a Jebusite -- Araunah.
see HEBREW 'Ornan

In looking up the definition of orthography:

• study of correct spelling: the study of established correct spelling
• study of how letters are arranged: the study of letters of an alphabet and how they occur sequentially in words
• relationship between sounds and letters: the way letters and diacritic symbols represent the sounds of a language in spelling

So, you are probably correct in assuming this is a difference in spelling due to language change.
