Many years ago, when my wife and I first found out that God delivers us from demons, we got kicked out of our church for believing it. It all starte when we were at a bible study at a friends house...well, I thought they were friends. Anyway we were looking at Mark 16. We came to verse 17 And these signs will accompany those who do trust: in my name they will drive out demons, speak with new tongues, 18 not be injured if they handle snakes or drink poison, and heal the sick by laying hands on them.”
My wife is the type of person who, when a question comes up in her ming, she asks it aloud. And she did... "How come we so seldom see these things in our churches if the bible says these signs shall acompany?" This innocent question from a very gentle and sincere woman. opened the gates of hell! The entire group freaked out and the bible study came to a screeching halt. Truely it was years before I actually realized what had happened but the event started my wife and I on a search to find out the why of it. Our search did not end when we got defenestrated so cruelly.
We were summoned to the pastors office where the entire church board was in session. (we warranted a special meeting) While in this meeting they hammered us with all sorts of scripture which honestly had nothing to do with the subject of contention but made them feel very spiritual I guess. Then at one poing to pastor pointed at me and demanded "Are you going to follow my instructions or not?" I responded gently but in no uncertain terms that if he followed the Wor I would have no problem following him....Again the fertilizer fell into the air conditioning system. His eldest elder jumped in then and attacked us about 'doctrines of demons' implying that studying about deliverance etc was doctrines of demons. We all know that 'doctrines of demons' simply means 'doctrines taught by demons' which we need to stay away from.
So my question....What do you think? If your pastor is not following the Word, should you obey and follow him? If you've read this, then you already know my answer.
