What is this thing called love? I wonder why a person needs it. It must be very heavenly to make people do anything to find it… Love, a for letter word, yet its meaning is massive that a person could not contain it. Maybe that’s the reason why love commonly expressed through action. It can’t be explain by merely talking or by consulting Mr. Webster. It is so profound that a person needs to really feel it and understand it to grasp its meaning. Love, as some people say is the greatest gift of all. Not a single penny will cost you to give it to someone… it is given freely. You can’t buy it in the fanciest store. It is so priceless though it doesn’t come in a glittering box. To be loved is another thing. One will give up everything to feel loved. Though love is something a person could give freely, to be loved is something you can’t beg. That’s the irony. You want to feel loved by someone yet that someone could just not love you back. It hurts but that’s how this thing works. For some, destiny is on their side, thus makes them quite lucky but for those who doesn’t get their shoe on, well, it’s kind of painful. It might hurt but better try next time… Pain is the other face of Love.
Being in love and being loved is wonderful, a person could not ask for anything if these two comes their way. When these two collides? The world seems perfect to live in. Everyday will turn out differently. Full of rainbow, full of joy… it seems birds sing love songs all day. A smell of blossoms everywhere and the sun will shine brightly for the person in love. Naturally, those persons in love will see hearts popping and roses falling on their way. What a glorious day that would be… love is something a person desires and longs. It is the thing that makes a life complete.
But there is something we have to know about Love. Love comes in two forms. The true, which offers you the reality behind it, and the counterfeit, that will lead you astray. So take caution when you think love has comes your way, you might fall on the manhole and will regret in the coming days.
I could not give you a formula on how to spot the true from the blemished love. I am not a pro when it comes to this matter. To be honest, I don’t even know how it feels like to be loved by someone you love (romantically). But, to love someone who doesn’t love you back is my expertise (hahahaha!). It really drives you nuts I can tell. It’s like being high school once again. Looking forward as to when the bell rings so you can hopefully will have a glance on the fellow from the other class. Being conscious on the clothes you wear or the frenzy hair you have. Or simply getting to school early hoping you will see him passing by your classroom… those things and more makes your day complete especially when he looks your way and flashes you with a friendly smile. Oh… I remember those days! Anyways, to be in such situation could blur your senses so it is of much help to ask someone you trust to help you evaluate things… most importantly, the person you have your eyes on. I don’t mean evaluating his/ her bank- ground, or his/ her purse-onality, nor his/ her credit- bility. I mean the deeper side of him/her, like, knowing him/her from the inside. The wholeness of who he/she is. Who she/ he is as a person matter.
The bible teaches great points about love. In Proverbs 31:10-11, it says. “A wife of noble character who can find, she is worth far more than rubies… Her husband has full confidence on her and lacks nothing.” So your character, attitude, and your values count. So if you think you found the right person think again. You might get yourself in trouble. Remember, you only get hurt in love because you choose to. You haven’t considered those that matters most. You are the one who is responsible when it comes to choosing which road to take. Apparently, the bible gives precaution to this topic. “Do not awaken love until it is so desired” that’s what King Solomon said. True love waits… let’s not have it prematurely, because, as sweet love can be, when it bleeds, it won’t stop that easy. “Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, and always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. That is the perfect picture of love. If you think you got it… good for you if not… PAG-PUYO! You don’t want to get hurt and hurt someone do you?
Lastly, I can’t blame people who mistakenly assume that they are in the palms of love. Why? Because, it is not that easy to fathom what love really means. Neither you nor I could tell that it is love you feel. There was no school that teaches us how to identify that we are in love (really in love). Sadly, we only have visions of unrealistic relationships that cause us to stumble along the way. Though there is such a perfect love, there are no perfect relationships. So, be always guided with this truth. Your love for each other will help you soar above imperfection. Love will be your buoy in the ocean of imperfect worldly relationships. You can get through imperfection if and only if the author of love is in your midst.
“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;
For Love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
Rivers cannot wash it away.
If one were to give up all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.”
