I am weary of hearing Christians carelessly say, "I just don`t believe this or that...it does`nt matter what the Bible says...my pastor explained it this way...and so and so told me...I read a book...I just don`t prefer to see it that way...this is what I was taught all my life..." (with much repetition most any statement will soon be deemed fact)
Let me be very frank. To you elder christians who are "mature"...and especially to you babes in Christ. I don`t care if the most learned Bible scholar, or your Pastor (a rarity that they be both) or an angel glowing with heavens radiance tells you something...go to the Word, read
the Word, learn the Word, check the Word, double check the Word!
Do you know how many times the scripture warns agianst deceit? Oh but you and I can`t be decieved, we have been serving God for any number of years. Yea you really think so? Think agian.
Dear God, give your people a LOVE for truth! If we do not love truth, seek after truth, desire truth with every fiber of our being, we WILL believe a lie (God`s own words) Sadly I have seen more christians rejected by other christians because of refusing to be swayed from the Word, than any rejection they have known from the world.
God is not going to wink at our ignorance, He warned against deceit and the concequences of allowing ourselves to be deceived, and we can be sure He meant every Word He said! Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
I will not accept as the gospel truth anything coming from the tongue of a man unless it`s backed by the Word.
The Word will never testify to something that is not supported by more than one scripture, the scripture must always be read in context or the result is confusion over the Word, that means to be "rightly dividing the Word", and we must always search to "see if these things be so", and always "study to show ourselves approved." It`s the only Book He left us that even begins to tell us what HE thinks, so is`nt it time to take what He thinks a little more seriously, and what we "think", and "feel", a whole lot less?

Num 23:19 God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Good post.I was amazed when I began to read the Word myself , at how many false teachings are taught from the pulpits of many churches and how much of the false doctrines and teachings that I believed were true. It is very hard to let go of something that you have believed to be true when Gods word sheds light on it. The Gospel is simple to understand and difficult to practice, Man has made the Gospel message difficult to understand in order to make it easy to practice. If it doesn't demand self denial and the chastisement of your flesh it isn't the Gospel. Without denying yourself and taking up your cross, you will only follow Christ at a distance. You can only begin to be a disciple of Christ when you fill these two prerequisites.
Jesus said in the Gospel of John the Truth will set you free. To want to posses the Truth is carnal, we need to seek to be possesed by the Truth and it will deliver us from all the harmful mindsets that hold us prisoners and prevent us from becoming ONE.

As I was trying to tell a new believer, in another country, about the Bible; I explained that it is history, language, geography, music, astronomy, math, psychology, medicine, law, science, physics, biology, romance, life, death, and any other subject of interest...a library of books contained within its' bindings. It is TRUTH, unquestionable TRUTH, from/about the creator of the universe and the GIVER of LIFE. While there are millions of commentaries and helpful books by many great authors, there has never been nor will ever be written one to compare with the word of GOD. Hebrews 4:12, says, "For the word of God is quick(living; to live; lively), and powerful(operative; active; effectual)and sharper(to cut, as if by a single stroke, but implies repeated blows...like hacking) than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

I like the comment jiggyfly made about, "Man has made the gospel message difficult to understand in order to make it easy to practice." Man has made and continues to make a mess of things, especially things pertaining to the word of God, many times to benefit themselves monetarily. Man's practices are so diverse, with many followers, but God and the word of God is nowhere to be found nor followed. Many of the new versions or perversions of scripture and easy believism have been and are deceptive to many, yet accepted as TRUTH, when JESUS tells us that HE is "...the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."(John 14:6 KJV) What is so difficult to understand about this verse that makes/would make one want to seek another interpretation for its' meaning? Scripture compliments scripture and is its' own commentary, we do not need another man's interpretation of what it says or what he thinks it is saying. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." It is a matter of taking/trusting God's word rather than accepting any/everything new that comes along.

The word of God works the same way as Ezekiel saw it . A wheel within a wheel ! The same word that was approval one day , can be rebuke another day ! It's all in the season's at the time . Amen! Glory to God! Hallelujah! HIS truth is marching on!
I want to admonish the younger Christians here. The world wide web is
full of sermons and articles and commentaries on the Word, and sadly much of it is full of lies. If you do not have a very good knowledge of the Word, you will easily get tangled up in some very erroneous teaching!
The majority of those teaching on the web, 'know their stuff' so to speak, they can make a completely distorted message sound like it came straight from the Word of God. I have read so many messages that 'sounded' like truth,made a whole lot of sense as the author was explaining it,
but when I checked the scriptural references, it proved to be a distortion of the Word, AS IT IS WRITTEN. That`s the difference between the carnal mind,
and the mind of the Spirit. It is so easy to make the words of man sound appealing to our carnal minds, and natures. But our thoughts are not God`s thoughts!
Isa 55:8 For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts,
neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
If you like to read from a variety of teachers, do so with the Word in your hands, and always with the ferverent prayer that God will show you what is HIS truth. The Spirit will lead you into Truth, if this is your hearts desire, this is His promise!
God loves us so much, He wants to lead and guide us, He wants us to know HIS mind and hearts desire for us, but how we complicate things, and how grave and fatal an error it is to turn and allow man to be our guide.
We are human, therefore we are very fallible, anyone of us can be sincerely mistaken concerning the mind and will of God. The good news is God knows this, that`s why He said "follow me!" He will show us when we are wrong, He will show us what is true, and righteous and pleasing to Him.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
1Sa 12:24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart:
1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jo 5:6 ... And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

AMEN,This is very TRUE.But even getting other books to learn the meaning of words is dangerous.That is why the LORD gave us HIS HOLY GHOST ,to teach us TRUTH .He alone has the spiritual ansures.A man who wrote the meaning in greek or hebrew ,may not have even been born again or even knew anything about the LORD .So I can not trust anything except the LORD.This is where our FAITH enters .Just as I KNOW?Once we have our new birth.Our spiriuts are clean ,perfect

Opinions of people or denominations are not going to matter in the day of judgement. Thats why no matter what happened or what we hear in this life stop and think--'What does the Word say? What does God say about that? '. We will have no excuse for not believing and obeying God's Word. We will be judged by what the Word of God says.
