Luke 5:36-39
36*And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37*And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38*But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39*No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

What do you think Jesus is trying to convey to us through this parable?

Jesus teachings are not to fit into the Jewish traditions.
Yes, that is part of this parable.
Consider this, why take what is new and try to patch the old.
The old wineskin represents the religious system of the Old covenant, The temple, the priestly system and the law.
The new wine represents the new covenant, redemption through Christ, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the leading of the Holy Spirit and as sons and daughters, the Family of God.
The new covenant(the working of God's will through the ministry of the Holy Spirit) does not fit into the old covenant or old wine skin. Plainly spoken, the Body of Christ can not function properly in the old system. So why do we continue to fetter the Holy Spirit and Confine what God is doing within and old covenant structure. Clergy/ Laity system is strictly and old covenant system with all it's religious practice and liturgy and can not be found anywhere in the scriptures regarding the Church of Christ.

These parables can also be seen in the context of all things being made anew, putting off the old and putting on the new in the process of repentance of the old self-centered person and the reformation that regenerates the new person into an image of God with a new ruling of Love of God and the neighbor.
