On this day what did two Pharisees do a long time ago, what many was afraid to do on a Mountain where a man was Crucified

Only 2 Pharisees came and did what others were afraid to do. and it seems that many do not even mention their names of what they did. How bold they were. They might mention one in a simple capacity but refuse to mention the other one as they walked together. and not tell what courage it had to take.
And what they might have said as they walked within the distance of hand and hand.

Oh yes I know I can preach their story and place, all of the drama that must have went through their minds. Oh yes, I am quite sure they had plenty to say.:pensive: on "Good Friday" dark day when The Sun refused to shine and the daylight refuse to show its Light. For the world had Hung The Son of God on a Tree shaped, like a Cross and put holes in His lower wrist and of the ankle joints of His feet and put another hole in his side and The blood ran down even from His face and they had gave Him vinegar to drink when he was thirsty and wanted something to drink.

John 19 BSB
The Burial of Jesus
38Afterward,
Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews), asked Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed His body. 39 Nicodemus, who had previously come to Jesus at night, also brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, aboutseventy-five pounds. 40So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.…

Like my wife used to say a long time ago: "How do you find these things in Books and how to find errors in reference Books out of 100's and 1000 page books. How do you do that. My reply, I do not know.:pensive:

New Living Translation
With him came Nicodemus, The Man Who Had Come To Jesus At Night. He brought about seventy-five pounds of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.

English Standard Version
Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight.

Note" so many times I have heard pastors, minsters, and evangelists; Make jokes and laughing jesters about Nicodemus.

But finally I believe what GOD had been whispering in my ears, "They Have not, read The BOOK":pensive:

"Calvary"

Somebody ought to preach that on A Sunday Morning!

"The Man Who Had Come To Jesus At Night"

Only a "ORATOR" Gifted by GOD can do that one! It takes a "GOLDEN MOUTH" or an "Ambrose" !

That can Preach without a script and can enter into The TEXT!

I would offer.

Yes through Nicodemus a Pharisee like or with Sadducees. Both followers the pagan form of worship . "Out of sight out of mind ".No unseen God as a Faithfull Creator .

Cain murdering Abel the first apostle and martyr who murdered .A reference the father of lies spoken of in John 8 :44 . .a murderer from that very beginning. Cain declared the will of the father of lies "I know not where by my brother is" (buried under the corn field )

They that walk by sight and not the faith of Christ as it is writen made Jesus into what I call circus seal Demanding of Jesus to do some magic, work a miracle then when we see with our own eye. . . after that they then said we will believe.

The law . . . John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

The testimony that they violated it as it is written
John 6:30
They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

After revealing the greatest possible miracle "A man must be born again" before he is revealed the things of eternal God not seen(kingdom of God) . He lovingly commanded Nicodemus to marvel or wonder not . Marveling and wondering is not believing as a anchor to ones soul . Its wondering, wondering, doubting wondering. (Limbo . . Purgatory )

John 3:6-7 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

In that way we are not to serve lyings signs as wonders . . . along with them God sends a strong delusion

2 thessolonias 2:9-12 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The temporal things of men must be mixed with the eternal things of God not seen. The gospel rest, yoked with Christ making our daily burdens lighter with a un-ending . un-failing living hope. .

I know and fully understand that many christians think you can serve GOD and be A great witness for "Jesus Christ" without the POWER OF GOD! as they address the people of "the Old Testament" recorded in "THE GOSPELS" Many Christians they think you can serve and be bold and died a violent death for JESUS and Not be BORN again, Just listen how they address the people in the GOSPELS will tell you what they believe. Many Christians think the flesh can serve GOD before JESUS sent back The "Holy Ghost" and you do not need The Third part of "THE TRIUNE GOD" Living in you.

And I do understand.:pensive:

Many do not believe that You Must be "BORN AGAIN" to be "BORN of The SPIRIT" and then You shall, be EMPOWER from on HIGH! Like JESUS said:

NASB 1977 LUKE 24:49
“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; But You Are To Stay In The City Until You Are Clothed With Power From On High.”
JESUS SAID WAIT! Until I go to heaven and SEND him back! If I do not go, he will Not come!

New American Standard Bible John 16:7
"But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, The Helper Will Not Come To You; but if I go, I will send Him to you."

Wait for the Holy Ghost, because we know nothing about GOD until We Receive in us and we have NO POWER to WITNESS about God and His WAYS! For he is The PERFECT LOVE that CAST OUT all FEAR! The Parakletos!
ACTS 1 KJV
4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
In The GOSPELS only Two People Had The Holy Ghost Living IN them. "JESUS and John The Baptist"
and only two Brave men stood, and didn't run away and abandon Him all others did, the Disciples ran and hid!

But Not " Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus" they risk their life and was not empowered with "THE Holy Ghost" The Pharisees:pensive: God does use "Pharisees" even the worst and the best of all "Pharisees"

It seems that he "GOD" has no problem, in using sinners. Nor have He a problem in dying for them as well.

American Standard Version ROMAN 5:8 KJV
But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

When The Gun Man fronts you and says denounce Christ, with Boldness you say "PULL THE TRIGGER with out Hesitation. That is The POWER that He has give us. that this world can never know,:pensive:

Hello @PloughBoy,

Thank you for the question, for I have learned a little more about Joseph of Arimathea (a city of the Jews) in the process of responding. He was a rich man, a member of the Jerusalem council, and 'looking for the Kingdom of God', so he was not a Sadducee, for they had no such expectation, yet we are not told that he was a Pharisee: and last but not least, like Nicodemus, he was a disciple of Jesus. He is described as a 'good and a righteous man', who kept his discipleship a secret for fear of the Jews, as Nicodemus did: and though a member of the Jerusalem counsel, had not consented to either their counsel in condemning Jesus, or their subsequent deed, and neither had Nicodemus, who had spoken up for the Lord before the counsel previously (John 7:50). The tomb in which He laid the Lord Jesus, was Joseph's own possession. He and Nicodemus worked together in preparing the Lord Jesus for burial, and finally placed Him in the tomb and rolled the stone in front of it.

* The Pharisees were concerned that all men would believe on the Lord Jesus, and that the Romans would come and take away their positions of authority, and their nation.

* The prophetic words concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, which Caiaphas in his capacity as High Priest uttered, were not of himself, but of God: He prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation (John 11:47-53) and not for the nation only, but that He might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad.

* What a wonderful depth of knowledge there is in the four gospel accounts when read together isn't there. I have not said anything that has not been said previously, but it was good going over the details of that Good Friday again.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Good work, You hit that one on the head although he was a member "Sanhedrin" counsel and a rich man I never considered his occupation and took for granted he was a "Pharisee" all these years. never did any research on him or the Qualification of a "Sanhedrin" just like many people think you have to be a "lawyer or a judge" to be a "Supreme Court Judge":sob:

The Constitution does not specify qualifications for Justices such as age, education, profession, or native-born citizenship. A Justice does not have to be a lawyer or a law school graduate, but all Justices have been trained in the law.

Good research. I like that!!!

I Laugh as I read your 4 accounts in the Gospels, everybody is waiting on that "KINGDOM of GOD"!:sob: No one is waiting to go to Heaven! but beyond heaven! ETERNITY The Kingdom of God Jesus is talking about and not the one our churches and pastors are talking about! They waiting in the corner secretly, they ain't going let no body know. they hiding, they ain't going to let anyone know they believing! Because they know them devils!:sob: " Joesph and "Nicodemus"

PS studying the word of God among the brothers and sisters, can be fun, tears and laughter, sorrow and pains, even loneliness and joy. and grief.

I do love you all, then one day maybe we will travel across All Eternity which has no end together and maybe laugh as we explore together and look what Our father has given to us.:pensive:

Psalm 133 KJV
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.:)
